I was studying well for the last month then the last week i completely stopped and haven’t watched any of my roger videos or homework.

Im taking FAR april 4th and currently only on PPE using the roger FAR program.

How have some of you moved past this studying block?

When I would get in study ruts, I would sit down, turn on the TV, and start writing out flashcards. In my mind it was better than nothing, and more often than not I would end up referencing the book or other materials when I was confused about a particular topic (pretty much ignoring the TV). So in essence I really was studying – just not formally with the videos, etc.

If you're going into Public, according to the Becker website the lifetime career difference between a CPA and a non-CPA is over $1 million. Was that motivational?

Also, don't study for any one section for so long. Not only do you get to the point you're at now but you also will start to forget the things you learned in the beginning. I would get a supplement such as Ninja MCQ which tests all areas at the same time. That way you can stay fresh on all the topics.

I also did what @taxgeek did when I was burnt out, write out flashcards while watching TV.

Lol its good motivation but that Becker Stat is incredibly skewed and misleading. Look at all of the positions in public that essentially require a CPA vs those that dont. I think partner salaries alone are enough to skew that to where it isn't reliable. Still…it opens doors and gives you opportunity you wouldn't otherwise have had. No denying that…and the sooner you get it the more opportunities come your way…

What I would do is go and start doing questions. Even if you don't know them. Its just a huge change of pace from reading or watching more lectures. Then you see how much you don't know and why you need to re-focus and study.

@cpa002 glad to see your back on track! Next time you hit a low pt, I suggest doing something phyiscal. I like to hit golf balls. I transfer all the stress I am feeling to face of driver as I attempt to knock screws out of it and split the golf ball in two unequal halves. If its to cold or wet to hit balls I suggest loading up the bench press as heavy as you can take and do 4×15.

You have to get your mind to settle down and focus. Once you do that, its easy to stay motivated. Hope this helps.

April 4 is practically a lifetime away, no wonder you needed a break. It's a delicate balance, you have to pace yourself yet really push when necessary. My advice is take a break for another week, then go full steam starting on Feb. 4

If you need a break, have a break. I took a break for at least a month as I wanted to get the result before moving on to the next section. It's just me. Having a break in between never bothered me. You know yourself, your priorities and goals. As others mentioned above, April 4 is still a lifetime away. If you are a fresh graduate, you may not need a 10-week preparation.

Think positive and keep pushing.

Anything worth doing is probably not easy, but the rewards are worth it. (unknown)

You should stop studying until 2/15.

Any more than a month and a half per section and you're not doing yourself any favors.

With working full time, I think going as long as 7-8 weeks is fine for FAR since it has so much to cover. That was my study plan and I would have liked just a couple extra days to review, but I went in to test on my scheduled day. The whole center was down and the soonest they could get me back in was 10 days later! I was so burnt out that I barely studied in the 10 extra days.

You really have to consider burnout. If your test isn't until April, this does seem too soon to already be in the middle of studying, as you'll have to study all of this early material again closer to test day anyway.

Stock Price drops causing a ripple effect on the NYSE resulting in a drop in all stocks

Stock Market drops 75%

World economies plunges into Lengthy Global Recession

6 months later we enter a Global Depression

Investigations points to you and your mistake.

You are reviled everywhere and end up hiding in seclusion

Moral of the story: Study for the CPA exam and don't cause a Global Depression.

I agree with ppl that recommend taking a break for a week. You'll get back on track for sure, refreshed and stronger that ever without hurting the quality of studying. April is far enough away that you can catch up even if it's one week later. Good luck.
