I have Far and Reg left and 9 months to do both, I need a gameplan; need help

I have a feeling I’m going to be failing Reg this testing window coming up. Problem is I have 9 months only to complete that and Far. It took me 4 months to get a 93 on BEC and under 3 months to get an 85 on Audit but then I slowed down because of family and career issues so now I’m gunning it. I have spent 6 months on Reg and don’t have time to spare. I am sick of taking the exam and am reaching my limit and want to finish it.

Also my resources are draining so I can’t keep spending 250 bucks to take a test; if I start having stuff expire I think I’m done for good. So with that said… what should I do as far as taking the exam? Take Reg see if I pass it but while I wait for my grade study for FAR? I don’t want to make stuff overlap and start forgetting information if you get what I mean. Like if I fail Reg I don’t know what my next step should be. Just take Reg again beginning of next window and then study for Far with the 2 months left? How do you guys approach this situation.

When does your first score expire exactly?

My general impression when I look at the time you're spending and your scores is that you are overstudying. Did you feel like you were going to fail BEC and AUD before you pulled those scores? If so, you should probably assume that you will pass REG and move onto FAR as soon as possible. Then take FAR in the next window– give yourself 8 weeks to cover all the material and review, and figure out what you need to do each week to get that done. You don't need to feel 100% to pass, you just need a 75.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I definitely over studied for BEC but that was because I didn't know any better at the time. As for Aud I actually passed by the skin of my teeth because I almost got the research question wrong. At the last minute I changed it; but AUD I prolly only put in like 80 hours of sutdying over the course of 2 months for the exam so for that test I kinda got away with murder.

As for REG I've easily put in 200 hours over six months and still feel the least prepared.

I think you need to spend more time per week studying. 200 hours for REG over 6 months works out to less than 8 hours per week. If you can get in a solid 20 hours per week you'll be in much better shape. I know it's hard to find that kind of time but it absolutely is possible for ANYBODY.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

Here is what I'm doing, in case this is helpful. I was supposed to take FAR on 5/9, then take a couple of weeks off while waiting for my score, then I was going to decide what to do, maybe retaking FAR in early July if needed. But when I went to test on 5/9, their system was down and I had to reschedule FAR for 5/21. Now I won't know what I'm getting on FAR until 6/6.

New plan: I jumped into REG studying right after taking FAR. I was really tired of the FAR material anyway, especially with the extra time. I take REG on 7/9. If I don't pass FAR, maybe I will try tackling that again late in the Q3 window, or first thing in Q4. I'm taking BEC in late Q4. Then I still have 2015 Q1, Q2, and 9 days of Q3 to do any more retakes.

You can space out tests to every 6 weeks and take 2 per window if you time it right. 6 weeks should be enough if you are reviewing for a retake, I think.

I study for 1-3 hours every night before bed during the week, plus maybe 6 hours on Saturday and 6-8 hours on Sunday. Plus I have Ninja Audio going pretty much any time I'm driving– I think that has been extremely helpful in making concepts stick.

Don't you have REG this week? Stay positive and focus on driving concepts home rather than all this negative “I'm about to fail” thinking. That isn't helpful to you. You can do this thing!!!!!!

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)
