    I live in a small apartment with my two sisters and my dad. There’s always someone watching tv or doing something really loudly and when the public library is closed I have no other choice than to study at home.

    I’ve asked them to be considerate of my situation as this is very important to me but they only do so for a couple days and then they go back to their old ways.

    Are there any other places to study besides the library? I don’t like to go to Starbucks because it can get loud there too and I need the least amount of distraction to focus.

    Help! 🙁

    Thanks for all your suggestions! I did find an university that though is not too close to me, it has more flexible hours and they have a few quiet study rooms that you can reserve which is awesome. I'm definitely looking into getting a good pair of noise cancelling headphones for those days when I can't leave the house.

    Thanks so much!

    Just beware that most universities won't let you reserve a room unless you are actually an enrolled student there. Good luck studying!

    With 2 kids, 2 dogs and a husband, soft ear plugs were a lifesaver! Also brought them with me on exam day.

    That's great Mandrade…yes, Mamabear is correct. However, in most libraries you can find quiet designated areas to study so you might not even need to reserve a room. If the university doesn't have those areas they still may be quieter than studying at home…won't know until you try it out. Good luck!

    @Akvod

    Go to the dollar store and buy 4-6 (depends if you want a roof or not) Trapper Keeper folders. When you're at your study destination, I prefer Starbucks, set them up like so: |_|. I usually add the roof for the times I'm in the zone. Add earmuffs to change an imperfect study destination into study heaven!

    Very tough situation. I was thinking in the lines of changing your schedule a bit. How about studying when they're asleep? Sometimes you just get “over-ruled” when you object to how life is and you just have to work with what you've got.

    They usually go to bed at around midnight and I study better during the day 🙁 but yes this library I found works just great! I can be there for as long as I want to. I've finally found peace thanks for all the suggestions! Now I just need to study hard to finish studying well before my test.
