    I took Aud 3 times, just received a 69!

I have really done my very best! I read both the roger and wiley books twice! Worked on all the MCQ in wiley book and WTB, and been scoring in the 90s!

I feel so stucked now. I don’t know what to do. I don’t even know how I got 69!

Should I keep taking Aud or take a break and move on to other section first? I scheduled FAR on July 2nd.

@Kimboroni: You mention that FAR journal entries and ratios woud be pretty helpful for the sims. Just wondering if you could give me examples to go over. I havent taken FAR yet so I have no idea where to review. I have my retake on the 27th; I always do well on the mcq but always get killed on the SIMS! Last AUD exam had a FAR sim and I had no idea what to do

    AUD: 74, 67, 76!
    BEC: 70, 75!
    FAR: 76!
    REG: 67, 73, 79!

Using Roger Review Course, Ninja Flashcards, WTB & book

For AUD, you really have to know the basic accounting journal entries, and what side assets, liabilities, and equity go on, so that (imagine you are an auditor) you can give the correcting journal entries, such as if an asset is overstated, you post a credit to correct it. Stuff like that.

Nothing too complicated like govt or nonprofit. Just the basics– revenue, expenses, PP&E, cash, AR, AP, etc. Someone here once called it “kindergarten accounting” and I agree with that.

For ratios, you need the ones like inventory turnover, AR turnover– those that deal with accounts you'd be auditing. I studied these: https://quizlet.com/12228282/aud-4-financial-ratios-cpa-flash-cards/ Not that I remembered them all– too many.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

For audit, I focused a lot on compilation/reviews/audits/examinations/AUP. Making sure I really knew the difference between them, when independence was necessary, what impairs independence. I find that I review best by trying to explain it to my friends in layman's terms. If they don't have a glassed over look, that means I explained it clearly.

I used CPAexcel and Wiley, and what I found helped me was reading the question and then coming up with what I think the answer SHOULD be before I even look at the answers.

I did a practice SIM on planning/engagement checklist items. That helped a lot.

Really KNOW TIP PIE GCDO and what it means.

I was so nervous about my SIMs, but I think really KNOWING the material helped. I have zero interest in Audit, so I really had to teach myself a lot of concepts.

I know you'll do better the next time around. People here have a lot of great advice!

I swear by flash cards and MCQs. Also, make sure that you get on the AICPA authoritative literature (you apply for an account there with your NTS number). The last couple of weeks before the test I was in that reading constantly as well as doing non-stop MCQs. Any MCQ I missed, I went back to the literature to read up on.

And if Jeff's Ninja MCQs for Auditing are as good as they are for BEC, I would definitely switch to that – he'll likely have fresh questions that you haven't encountered before. For BEC, I use both the Beckers MCQ and the Ninja ones – while I can score 90s in my progress tests on Beckers, I am definitely not scoring as highly in the Ninja (tougher and more comprehensive questions). I would imagine that it would be the same with the AUD section.

    FAR - Feb 27, 2014: 86
    AUD - April 5, 2014: 91
    BEC - May 6, 2014: 83

tioav15, I love it – unfortunately, I can't use the Ninja MCQ again until tomorrow. I'm on an Air Force base this week doing training (get to go home tomorrow). This base (as is the case with most bases) has very strong security features on its network that are keeping me from the Ninja MCQs. For the first few days, the Ninja MCQs were working without any glitches, but then all of a sudden it stopped working. I'm going home tomorrow so will be on my own internet and will resume doing non-stop MCQs.

Ninja MCQs: I always liked Beckers, and I've been able to pass all sections thus far using Beckers alone. However, the Ninja MCQ format is much better and if I had more tests after this one, I would definitely be using the Ninja MCQs. My typical review process for the last two weeks before a test is to do non-stop progress tests (each night do a test from the last chapter so all chapters are represented). The only problem with the Beckers progress tests is that I can't see what I got wrong until I finish the test (100 questions later, when I'm tired and don't always want to devote another hour to review but begrudgingly do so). With the Ninja MCQs, the questions are more varied and often quite a bit tougher. I also have the correct answer displayed right after I pick my answer. Then in the bottom of the screen, all the key words and concepts from the question are hyperlinked in. So if I am doing a question on net present value, then I can click in the bottom (after I have done my answer, not before), and can get a quick review of it. Normally there are anywhere from 2 to 10 different key words/concepts linked at the bottom, all of them ones that relate to the question. Excellent review tool! Far superior to Beckers pop-up book.
