How do you guys find motivation to study after working all day? My brain feels completely fried after working and I can’t seem to focus on anything. I am usually exhausted and have a hard time staying up late or waking up early. Help!

Just do it, every day, even a little bit, however you can. Set a schedule that is attainable given your life/work situation and stick to it. It all adds up.

    Hi,

I added another71 or ninja to my FB and Jeff posted some tips on finding time to study.

He calls it the ELL (Early, Lunch, Late)

He suggests waking up 1.5 hours earlier, studying during lunch rather than hanging out with coworkers, and either staying late at work and studying or going home to study from 9-11pm depending on if you have kids/wife.

I actually think it's good advice.

And as everyone has suggested, if you want it, you'll find time. It's hard but you can do it.

Btw, I've been lurking on here for a couple of months and I just joined. Hey everyone!

For what it's worth, there were periods of time where I just wouldn't go home after work. Once I'm home I tend to instantly unwind, and can become fairly useless. So instead I'd pack my study stuff in the morning, take it to work with me and hit a coffee shop or the library before heading home. Some nights I'd be there for two or three hours, others maybe 45 minutes. But I always got something done, and it was generally more than what I would have gotten done had I gone straight home, or gone home before going back out to study. Full disclosure – no spouse/kids here, so it was easier for me than it may be for some others….

study during your commute if you use mass transit, then study some more either before work or after work. Every chance you get, study! But do take breaks or day off here and there, it'll help absorb the material better IMO.

I like to seclude myself in an area where I know work will get done. For example, going to my schools 24/7 study areas when I get home. Results ina good 2-3 hours of quiet study time and then listen to audio lectures on my commute to work and home.

    Short answer, cocaine.

On a more serious note, try studying before & after work. It is very tough to come home from a full day of work and crank out 3-4 hours of studying. I found that breaking up my time made it much easier. I would get to work about 1-2 hours early and study there before people came in… Then after work I would only need to study for about an hour to stay on schedule.
