I am currently studying for the CPA exam and it’s not clicking with me. My accounting grades were always very average. I never studied much in college and went into exams with the YOLO mentality. I know that is bad :(. I have the Beckers study material and a lot of things doesn’t seem too familiar with me. After I finish one module, it is hard for me to retain information after I finish another module.

I have three methods I came up with:
    1. Stick solely to using the Beckers materials
    2. Invest in another material (Ninja) since Beckers do not came with a lot of questions and tackle the questions instead of trying to watch every module and read every chapter.
    3. Reread my college textbooks while studying for the materials.

What are some of your study tips for average students. Thank you!

The same thing happened to me when I first started. I started with FAR, and I didn't take the exam seriously. I was also pretty average in my college classes, I never did a stellar job. But I mainly stuck with Becker (I did purchase the Ninja Notes for my FAR retake) because I figure any review course will provide the materials you need to study, it is just how you use them. Becker has progress tests in each chapter (beginning in the second chapter) that are a great way to retest yourself on material you've studied up to that point, and it helps make it stick.

Rereading your old textbooks is also a good strategy since you may be more familiar with those than the Becker layout, so definitely use what you have to your advantage. I wouldn't invest in purchasing supplemental materials unless I knew that something was lacking in the way I was studying. I purchased the Ninja Notes because I knew I didn't have time to write out 10 chapters of Becker, but reading and writing out the condensed Ninja Notes helped me efficiently and effectively glue things together with Becker.
