I need to figure out a way to stay awake during the weekdays to study.

    this is my schedule-

    Work – 8am to 5pm or sometimes 6pm or 7pm
6pm or 7pm to 8pm — Get home and take care of pets (go for a walk etc) Arrive home back from the park
8pm to 9:15pm –Feed pets, eat dinner, rest, watch tv
    Get ready to study
Study or TRY TO STUDY 9:15pm to 12am (this lasted a week)

usually now by 10:40pm im falling asleep
and then it starts all over again
Wake up at 6am most of the time 6:40am…
Get ready and make it to work at 8am

    Start cycle all over again.

Every time I pick up the FAR book i fall asleep, i tried reading the other books but i dont have the attention span to do it.
I force myself to AT LEAST do something before sleeping, even if its one paragraph.

LOL @ FAKE NEWS. I look for this post daily to see updates.

    @aspencookie
I really hope you can figure out why to stay awake to study during the week. Some good suggestions have been made. I'm all for taking time for yourself so don't let anyone beat you up about that but the time to yourself has to be mixed in with actual study time too. I'm curious as to how you study on the weekends. Can you update us on that?

Why are you studying now if you can't take the exams for a year? I'm not trying to be mean, but that doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. Can you not take the exams because of the educational requirements?

Come on guys, aspencookie is not studying. They are keeping us locked in so WE won't study…..lol The comments are not even funny anymore. I'm about to lose my mind and hair over this exam and they are spitting about watching t.v and walking the dog. :-/….Signing out of this one.

The irony is I’ve actually taken study time to read this thread….at least it’s amusing. OP, worry about the exam in about 10 months. Maybe then your schedule might open up.

Let me ask this, and if I missed this it’s because I didn’t read the entire thread. If you are still in school, why study for the CPA? Being in class for 2 hours would normally be valuable study time.

any change in routine can be tiring, the first week or two I'd expect it to be difficult to study if you're used to going to bed earlier or having that as downtime. Keep at it, it's a fact that something takes 21 days to become a habit. Unless you have a health issue it is manageable and you should be able to adapt to it.

For what its worth I was in my 40's, had 2 kids, a full time job and was finishing my masters degree when I passed the exam. Its not FUN to survive on 4-5 hours sleep every night but it won't kill you as a short term situation. Almost every parent has survived on less sleep than that for the first year of their child's life.

If your first exam is a year out I think its a complete waste of time to study now, you're not likely to retain much of what you're studying now more than 2-3 months from now. There's a reason CPA stands for “couldn't pass again” the information is in and out of your memory like a sieve.
