@rubie, I so agree with you on only doing multiple choice questions. I do NOT have the attention span to watch lectures or read chapters 🙂

Review Course: Lambers , Wiley and NinjaNovember 7, 2011 at 9:16 pm #307219jomarieParticipant@rmm – Believe me I'm not calm at all. I had a complete meltdown yesterday.
Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!November 7, 2011 at 9:26 pm #307220AnonymousInactiveUnless you know you have plenty of time to do the lectures and read the book/notes and do loads of mcqs, I would say skip the lectures, and focus your energy and the other stuff.
I personally did not find that I remembered very much from the lectures. It was good as a basis for what I would read, and helped reinforce certain mnemonics, but when pressed for time, read/write and do mcqs.
Of course, there are some people (probably) that find the lectures more helpful than reading or writing over notes, so perhaps just listening to the lectures is all they need….
November 7, 2011 at 10:50 pm #307221RedRage00MemberFAR was a beast just with the pure volume of the material. I don't know how you people do it by watching the videos and then leaving like 2 weeks to do MCQs. That is not enough time IMO, especially for FAR. I left 8 weeks for FAR and needed it all. I think it took me a good 3 weeks to watch all 51 hours of video using Yaeger and taking insane amounts of notes on them at the same time….and that left me with like 5 weeks of non stop MCQs using the Wiley test bank. I don't think 2 weeks would have been enough for me. I had over 200 hours of study time. I probably overdid it because it was my first exam and I had no idea what to expect, but I passed and thats all that matters I guess.
I'm studying for REG now and I watched the videos for the tax portion but ditched it for the Business Law section because it was like reading from the book which I could do on my own. Non stop MCQs until my test in 13 days!

LoL i have never been a student to study for hours on end and read the whole book I dont have the attention span for that so I do 90MCQ a day (or as many are on the wiley test bank for that module) I have 1 more module to do and then with yaeger he pretty much just does multiple choice for audit so ill do the questions with him for 8 days then im hitting up lamber for more MCQ…and honestly I have to tell you i feel pretty confident already and i still have 23 days to drill MCQ. Its crazy because Im getting 50% correct never having to read or watch the lectures so imagine what 3 weeks can do for me!!! Im pumped about this new study routine!!
REG 10/01/2011- failed retake hopefully May 2012
AUD 11/30/2011- failed retake 1/9/2012
BEC 2/25/2012 -

Sounds like a great experience–yahooooo!!!
November 8, 2011 at 3:40 pm #307224AnonymousInactiveAlright advice for FAR. I did Becker this time around and watched all the lectures but didn't really feel as if anything stuck. I guess I should have worked more multiple choice questions because those really tricked me on the exam. I didn't really like Becker for FAR. It sounds like the Wiley test bank is the way to go and Ninja Notes. Does anyone know where I get these?

bummer. FAR is really a pain in the @ss. I am sorry about your news. I think you can get both the Wiley testbank and Ninja notes here, click on the green box that says 40% !!! And save some bucks to boot!!
keep your chin up you will get there!!! good luck:)
November 8, 2011 at 5:11 pm #307226RedRage00MemberYankee,
When you said “and save some bucks to boot!” I automatically thought of receiving “boot” in an exchange LOL

November 9, 2011 at 4:42 pm #307228rmm91909ParticipantHas anyone tried this with their first attempt at FAR and suceeded? I am playing the reschedule or try this out game right now!
November 9, 2011 at 4:57 pm #307229iPassMemberrmm91909, might be tough for FAR, there's just soooooo much to cover, I would go nuts it 20 days. Whatever you decide, best of luck!
BEC - 10/12/2011 - 78
AUD - 11/23/2011 - 84
FAR - 02/22/2012 - 76 (I'll take it!)
REG - 08/31/2012Win as if you were used to it, lose as if you enjoyed it for a change.
-Ralph Waldo EmersonNovember 9, 2011 at 4:59 pm #307230rmm91909ParticipantiPass that is how I feel and I am nervous to ditch half of the lectures. I feel like I need them! Do you know when you will be taking it in January maybe we will be on the same schedule if I move it 🙂
November 9, 2011 at 5:16 pm #307231iPassMemberrmm, I know how you feel about the lectures. I trust Jeff's advice, but I feel like I would be lost without the lectures.
I've scheduled FAR for Jan 17, wish I could postpone it for later, but I'm afraid I won't have enough time for REG which I have at the end of February. Really really need to pass, otherwise who knows when I'll be able to get back on track with studying once we have a little one.
If you do reschedule for January, we should definitely get in touch and maybe study together over skype or something like that.
