Well, I got my license in Nov 2013 but my husband is still working on the tests. Now I feel like I should do something to help him or cheer him up but I really don’t know how…After passing the tests, I want to go shopping and movies with him but I feel bad because it seems I waste his time indirectly. But if I do nothing, I feel bored…

Does anyone here have some ideas about this situation??

I totally agree with neika822 above.

I've been going through a similar situation. I've realized I need to be a little more flexible and try to plan to take a little time during the week for ‘fun'. My husband has in turn tried to do quiet activities he enjoys at home, and he also started helping out at a local elementary school teaching basketball with his friend.

I admit, I feel left out while he's out enjoying basketball, but I realize he has no study obligations. So, I encourage him, go to the basketball game 1 day a week with him, and ask him occasionally how it's going. He, in turn, chooses quiet activities at home while I'm studying.

It didn't come about magically… we've had to talk to one another. It's give and take on both parts. So, I would suggest a healthy dose of communication.

One of the most supportive things my boyfriend did was to find a new hobby to keep him busy. I didn't have to feel guilty about not seeing him as much since I know he was busy, too. He knew I liked to study all day long so my breaks were always to have dinner with him. It worked out well that we both kept busy until dinner time and then we'd eat together so I could relax a bit.

    FAR 7/3/13 - 82
    BEC 8/21/13 - 82
    AUD 10/2/13 - 92
    REG 12/3/13 - 88

    DONE!!!! CA Candidate

Dear All, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE GREAT TIPS!!! Yeah, I think the best thing I can do at this point is to involve more in his studying–like giving pop quiz or reviewing flashcards…so we can spend more time together even he is busy with the tests.

Like those ladies said, I may need to pick up some “girly show” to watch instead of Game of Throne or Sherlock if I want to watch TV; or mainly reading at home (My cooking style is kind of noisy so I may pass on this one)

To the guys above–Ha, I think I know what you guys are thinking about, πŸ˜› Naughty but thank you~:)

I hope my huddy can finish as soon as possible and we can both relax and enjoy our time….:)

@Shan 3 quiet yet fun hobbies that I can think of would be reading, scrapbooking, and drinking wine! As to the hobbies the boys are insinuating…I wouldn't consider those to be quiet hobbies BUT are fun nonetheless! πŸ˜‰ Helping hubby with flashcards, quizzes, and having him “teach” you topics are things that you can actively do to help him pass. IMHO, if you can explain in detail tricky topics to a disinterested 3rd party and make them understand from your explanations then you've got your hands around that topic! Poor Mr. Mints would have to listen to me explain the auditing transaction cycles in detail and is getting pretty sick of hearing about DEPS. Mr. Mints has taken up a variety of hobbies which helps too! πŸ™‚

Hang in there and great job!!!! πŸ™‚
