So, I’m taking FAR in about ~32 hours and someone mentioned cpareviewforfree.com, thought I’d give it a shot.

And what the hell, I am absolutely getting wrecked on these questions. I was using Becker and scoring ~80% on every progress test and about ~75% on final review exams. I thought I was prepared enough and now my confidence is shot. Is the CPA exam going to be as weird as this site? (For example, pensions, I was just amazed by how weirdly they asked those questions)

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks all as always!

I used CPAreviewforfree for my BEC and Regulation exam and it really helped me a lot in reinforcing the concepts that I have learned in Wiley and Becker materials. Don't be discouraged if you got low score. It is understandable because you use different materials but remember the actual exam is fair game so……give it a try!

BEC 2/8/10 - 75 (studied hard & prayed less)
REG 5/15/10 - 88 (studied less but prayed hard)
AUDITING 8/9/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard)

Don't worry about your score, just use it as a learning tool. And I have seen questions on the exam that were damn near word for word as those on the cpa review for free.

I think it is a great website and it really helps me out. Again, use it as another learning tool and don't worry about your score.

I didn't do those for FAR, but I've specifically heard that the cpareviewfor free questions for FAR are more complex than necessary. A friend of mine used them for all the other 3 sections and passed and thought they were are good resource, but didn't think so for FAR.

My understanding is that the cpareviewforfree questions are written by Joe Hoyle, whom I've met (nice guy), who used to own a CPA Review course.

The questions in your Wiley book, software, etc are from the AICPA – they license them from the AICPA.

Joe's questions are similar to CPA Exam questions, but he wrote them himself…that's the difference from what I understand (and anyone can correct me if I'm wrong).

They are a supplement to your review course, not an actual teaching course themselves.

@ Jeff – If the questions in Wiley are licensed from the AICPA, is that ALL of the Q's or just the AICPA released questions in the back of the book? And what does it mean that they are licensed Q's from the AICPA? Wiley and Becker pay money to the AICPA and in exchange the AICPA releases Q's to them from the test bank of possible questions??

It means that the questions in the books (from my understanding, anyway) are full of PAST questions from the CPA Exam.

You can only publish them/use them for your product if you pay to license them from the AICPA.

The AICPA-released questions aren't the licensed ones…

Give Joe Hoyle credit. I think that my professor told me that Joe wrote questions for the CPA exams. Joe also publishes a college accounting text that I used in college. His college text has questions that are similar to the AICPA questions.

Cool, good to know. I've been using Becker – I think it teaches me the material pretty well, but I guess the problems (after I've drilled them so many times) kind of lose their effect. I will make sure I use the rest of the day today to review some of the problems on the site and prep myself. Less than 20 hours until the test!!!

Also, I've been hearing gleim test banks are great overall, but I'm not sure where I can get them (studying for AUD next). Do I have to buy the audit text as a whole set, or are they sold separately?
