Hey guys, all I hear is “do a ton of MCQ’s”…what does this mean? I am doing about 40 a day, but not sure if this is enough or not. I did FAR (my hardest first and first test ever) in May and just got my score of 65 on Saturday, so studying hard for it…again…What are your thoughts?!

    ______________
    FAR 65,81 (7/3/14)

I did about 1,600 (no repeats) for FAR, 1,300 for Reg, 1,200 for Audit, and about 1,000 for BEC. I did those all within 2 months of the test, it really helps you to do more (but understand why your answer is right and the others are wrong). The more the better, lectures and text books will get you 20 points and the multipe choice will get you the other 55-80 points you will need to pass. I work full time and am I a mom, I had printed problems everywhere in my house. I had them in the bathroom, in the laundry room, work lunch breaks, work coffee breaks, and driving (yes that is illegal).

When I first started FAR I was doing about 50 Mcqs a day on week days and weekends about 100. Once I hit review week I was doing about 250 a day.

One thing you must remember its quality over quantity. Learn from your mistakes, take the time to research and better understand the concept that is being tested.

I did repeat the ones I got wrong a few days later just to ensure I did learn from my mistakes.

    Good Luck!

@BrainFarts… how many weeks did you give for basic study and how many for review stage?

    ----------
    AUD - 74, 77! (1/2016)
    BEC - 80! (5/2016)
    REG - tbd (8/2016)
    FAR - tbd

    Study materials: NINJA MCQ/Audio/Notes

I studied for FAR for two months, almost exactly and ended up doing around 3000 MCQs between the WTB, Becker, and CPAReview For Free.

For FAR, I did the ~1800 questions included with Becker. I reviewed around 1000-1200 questions during my review via progress tests.

For AUD, I did the ~1500 questions included with Becker. Then, I did all the non-optional questions a second-time through. Add 250-300 for random progress tests.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

I did FAR in 8 Weeks.. I allocated 5.5 weeks to learning the material/lectures/practice and then 2.5 weeks for the solid review to just really dig deep and keep practicing until I was blue. I read my notes every night. I had my husband do the flash cards quizzing with me.

I got a 83 on my first try.

How many MCQ's I did in total – i think 2000 including the repeats for the ones I got wrong. I did about 100 SIM's from Gleim.

PS when I did do the repeats i would let a few days pass so that I don't fall into that memorization pit fall.

Also I used Rogers to watch his lectures — he is awesome and totally worth learning from.

Do what “brainfarts” did, it is a very good approach.

Just dont memorize the test bank, it gives you the false feeling of doing super well with a big let down come test day. Always think questions out and go through the proper thought process, having reasons on the the wrong answer is wrong and why the right answer is right.

i just looked it up so I would know for sure

    Using ninja MCQ for FAR

    22 hours, 667 MC question, 8 SIMS

    Trending Score = 79.2

Actual CPA FAR Exam Score = 81 first attempt at a CPA exam

I think I was a little under prepared but I wanted to get the party started with the CPA exam. I had watched all the Becker Lectures. For BEC, I am only doing multiple choice and SIMS using NINJA test bank. I like studying this way. I will not watch the lectures

For each section I passed, I knew the book very well. I read the book all the way through (except for 1 chapter in BEC and FAR) before working any multiple choice questions. Once I got to the multiple choice, I just worked a few to confirm my understanding of the topics. For FAR, I needed to work more MCQ than the other sections to get the nuances of the questions down. Below is a breakdown of what I did for each section…I'm retaking REG, but I failed only because I was weaker in SIMS (stronger in MCQ).

    FAR – 400 questions

    AUD – 75 questions

    BEC – 15 questions (yes, 15)

    REG – 400 questions

I think # of MCQ'S is only relevant to your knowledge of the material. If you hit 90% on 40 MCQ's of a chapter, move on.

In total, I did and about 600 MCQ's for FAR and no practice Sims. That's because I was comfortable with the material.

Wow, this is in an interesting thread! How many MCQs to do definitely varies on the person.

AUD: WTB 600 something, and maybe about half of the ones in my Wiley book (I think there are about 1,000 per section)

FAR: WTB 151, and most of the ones in my Wiley book, maybe 90%

I've found that I don't like repeating questions since I keep zoning in on the same wrong answer. So I mostly do new ones.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)
