InactiveI’ve been asking around and some people say up to 7 hours per day. Honestly, right now I’m not working full time. However, I do not see studying more than 4-5 hours per day possible. This material is insanely boring and I’m usually a VERY studious person. So, how many hours per day do you guys put in on average?

ParticipantI use to study hardcore from 6:00pm to 10:30pm on weekdays. However, I also studied in my sleep (Jeff audio), on my commute to work (flashcards and WTB iPhone App), at work (flashcards, WTB online), during lunch, and on my commute back home.
The key is to just use every available spare time you have to look at material.
FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
AUD: 65, 91!?
BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

InactiveIt depends how close the test is. I had 1.5 months off between my internship and full time start date (today). I took two exams during that time. For one week I studied 8 hours a day and took one day off. The next week I studied for 12-14 hours a day. The day before the test I took 2 practice exams and rewrote notes for areas I was week in.
My study prep was a modified NINJA approach. More emphasis on making my own notes; I find that I learn a lot by writing. For FAR I also color coded things (blue for normal, red for “exceptions to the rule,” green for everything IFRS, etc.) Find a method that works for you but just write write write. Keep separate pages for formulas and journal entries.
My basic study method was watch videos, take notes on the whole section, work half of the MCQs (saved the other half for final review — last 4 days of studying I would go back and work practice questions. I passed FAR with this method.
For BEC I had a month of studying — the first 3 weeks I studied for 3-4 hours a day. 7 days before I amped up my studying to 8 hour days and a few 12-14 hour days when I really felt overwhelmed. Took BEC yesterday (crossed fingers for a month — ugh).
I made sure to take plenty of breaks, got plenty of sleep, ate well and exercised at least 3x a week.
Take care of yourself and study hard. Tons of methods work; find one that works for you.

Inactive4-6 hours is the most that I can handle and be productive in on any given day. I'm not a model student by any means…but usually do one day a weekend of the 4-6 hours, and at my former job, we were off on Wednesdays, so I'd get a second study-day in on Wednesday. Now, I'm in my 3rd week of a M-F job, and working a week with lots of OT with my test coming up on Saturday. For one reason and another (like the OT – just got home from work and time for bed), I haven't been able to study much on weekday evenings since starting the new job, so I've just been doing the weekend hours…but that's not really enough for a test start-to-finish, in my opinion! If I fail REG and have to re-take it, my goal will be to get a couple hours of study on weekday evenings except for month-end. I'm home by about 5:15 most of the month, so I figure I could study till 7 or so and get in about 2 hours.

InactiveHi there first post. I'm 36 and married with 3 children (one still at home). Left my old job so now all I'm doing is studying. For me personally my brain starts getting fuzzy after a solid 1.5 hours. So what I have been doing is three sessions of 1.5 giving me 4.5 and then maybe a little at night.
Hard to be a good dad and a good student. My “problem” is that I put my kids first so for me I really try to get 1.5 in before they wake up. Then the other 3 hours I try to get done before school gets out. This leaves my soon to be 4 year old in front of the wii/cartoons for 3 hours but he will be fine.
Studying for the FAR right now and I'm doing F2. I thought I was “The Man” in F1 but that didn't last long and now I'm feeling overwhelmed. Didn't do anything over the weekend as it was the easy thing to do but have gotten back into it and am just thinking PIECEMEAL PIECEMEAL PIECEMEAL. This test although extremely difficult with a huge amount of information is PASSIBLE and is NOT rocket science. You just have to be dedicated and put the time into it (just like most things in life.)
