So I took FAR Oct 25. It was my very first exam and I wanted to work on AUD next. I cannot get motivated to start AUD because I have no idea how I did on FAR. I have a feeling (as my husband rolls his eyes lol) I got a 68 or failing. If I failed FAR I want to go back and pass FAR before moving on. So I can’t motivate myself to study until I know. I know I need some advice or motivational… something from people who have been through this. I feel like if I study AUD and come back to do FAR I’ll forget AUD or FAR… Any advice? Motivational something?

are you writing AUD in Q4? If so, it may be late to start now. If time is of essence, I would start studying AUD and take the exam.

If you have learned the FAR material, it is unlikely that you will forget so fast. Even restudying it would not take that long. You may forget some material which is usual, but definitely can't be completely clueless.

    (1) Plan your exam dates around those dates that are closest to the score release date so that you aren't waiting that long to find out your results.

    (2) Just push through it. If you keep studying for FAR and then find out that you passed it, that would be so much wasted time. Just move on and focus on AUD for now; if it turns out you failed FAR, you can't take it again this window anyway, so you will have plenty of time to restudy for it.

    REG - 93 (7/30/13)
    BEC - 90 (8/19/13)
    AUD - 98 (8/31/13)
    FAR - 84 (10/19/13)

A major reason why 2 exams should be planned per testing window. You took FAR at the end of October which means if you have to retake it, you won't be able to until January 1st. If Audit is scheduled for end of November or early December, you should be studying for it. If its scheduled for Q1, then you have a predicament…

What if you passed? Then you are sitting here wasting your time for nothing. Audit is doable in 3-4 weeks time, just use Jeff's study planner and study framework ELL. Commit!

Why not study audit one chapter at a time very slowly and completely. If you master 2 chapters of audit and decide you want to go back to FAR when the scores are released you won't lose as much audit info when you study for FAR again. You could even review those 2 chapters every day or so to hold on to the audit info. If you pass FAR the first time around and then you can fully commit to audit and you already got 2 chapters you don't even have to worry about.

If audit is scheduled for late November early December I would just fully commit, and take December to freshen up on FAR.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

This is where I got stuck….but I found that if I go on I feel better. Then I found out I failed, I had to decided (several times) to go on or go back to Far ( studying at the time). So I had to settle down and study FAR and will study it until I pass!!!!

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass

Avenger, if I pass FAR I plan on taking AUD in Jan.

W_HAMILTON, That's a good idea. I wish I would have taken the test on Oct 20 so I would have gotten my results sooner and it would have only been 5 days sooner.. Live and learn.

I haven't applied or paid for the next test yet so hopefully when I am ready to there will be time… I'm clearly new to this. I'm just doing one at time once I find out if I have passed or not. I'm worried it won't work out as well as I'd like but we'll see.

tncincy, I really like what you said “I found that if I go one I feel better” I hear ya there. I've gotten out of the study mode so it's a struggle to get back in the mode. My plan is to take FAR or AUD in Jan so I'm thinking by the 15th of Nov Its like to get serious…
