How do you feel about Study Groups

    I typically avoid study groups like the plague because I don’t want to be someone’s teacher and I certainly don’t want someone knowing way more and feeling like I’m slowing them down. But now I do feel like i know enough to use study groups as tool so I am considering it. How do you feel about study groups? have they been helpful or a distraction?

    People seem to like the stickied study groups above. Posting in-person study groups is against the site rules (https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/cpa-exam-forum-faqs-and-help-center) , so I don't know how many people do that.

    Study groups have been popping up on Facebook, creating a group on there is private so no one see's what you are posting. I have a study buddy and we check in on each other each night (via Facebook only, not in person) and when we get stuck on a problem we post it and can discuss it and help each other.

    When I first got involved with another.71 I was on the study group boards more often. I found that keeping up with the forum boards can be too much sometimes. I do check in from time to time and offer whatever knowledge I can.

    Smaller study groups on Facebook are more effective for me. Mainly because I get a notification and see posts on my Facebook feed. Whereas with the forum I have to seek out new posts and I don't always have time for that. It's also nice to have a specific person to check in with in a private study group.
