Just curious if I am the only one out there having a tough time absorbing the information. I have been reading the same chapter for 2 weeks now and still hadn’t been able to retain any information. If I do, it’s small amounts of info. It frightens me that I’m weeks away from taking this beast and I can’t seem to remember anything. My girlfriend tells me that I should just read the chapters just for general knowledge and try to understand the MCQ’s more than whats in the chapters. Is this a good idea? Any pros wanna offer up some advice to someone in the minor league?

@ CR7 I have covered the first 9 chapters pretty well but will probably skim over Ch 10 and hopefully get to the multiple choice. At this point I think going over government accounting, doing journal entries, and working on research questions is going to be a big focus on my final review. I am losing the next few days to the holidays though.

@MRCPA2B I do flashcards for both definitions and concepts. Anything that is related to the multiple choice questions in Becker. I feel like I wasted a lot of time studying for FAR because I didn't realize that 50 percent of the Becker books is not relevant to the questions being asked. I have flashcards on 80 percent of the first 9 chapters and only 20 percent of the information actually helps me answer the questions.

However doing flashcards on the right material should be a huge help. Keep in mind that if I don't pass FAR its going to be that I didn't get enough multiple choice questions in. Balancing my understanding of the concepts with improving multiple choice understanding is where I will need to find a better balance while preparing for other exams.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I was studying audit before financial and I just remembered that I skipped CH2 and 6 for last. If you study 1,3,4,5 first you get to the bigger picture faster of what a audit is. Then you come back to 2 and say here are some other services auditors provide. Then you go to 6 and say here is all this other boring sh*t I need to know. Hope that helps.
