I need help in deciding on a CPA Exam study course. I’m stuck between CPAexcel and Roger. I’m a wife, mother of 3 and I work full time. This is a goal of mine, but as the years pass I see it getting further away.

I enjoy the lecture style of Roger, but I like the unlimited access offered by CPAexcel. If anyone has tried either of these courses, please provide your feedback.

I'm using Roger now and I love the books, although I won't know until Monday how well they prepared me for BEC. The lectures are entertaining and provide a lot of good info, but be warned if you purchase Roger that he does move pretty fast. I actually stopped watching the lectures after getting halfway through the BEC material because I wasn't retaining much information, although that may just me and not the lectures themselves. But I think the books are definitely well worth the money. I actually have the Wiley CPAexcel 2014 books, as well, and they're pretty overwhelming. Roger breaks thing down in a much more concise and user-friendly manner.

If you learn by watching lectures choose Roger. I would not choose Roger if you learn better by reading the material or on certain exams you might be familiar with.

CPA excel is a reading focused program with a proven test bank. Proven in that people pass the exams frequently just using cpa excels test bank. It is also a web based program so you will do all your reading on the computer or have to print out all the subject matter. It also breaks all the subject matter into small parts which is both good and bad. I haven't spent much time on it but it requires more navigating than I am used to with Becker. The reading tends to flow better than Becker and Wiley, but it also seems to give a lot more extra info.

I vote cpaexcel because I think about 80 percent of CPA material is best learned by reading, making Roger superior for only 20 percent of the material.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

Thanks Jeff. I've reviewed the info above. I have the 2012 Exam Matrix study course. Do you think I can continue using that study course and combined it with NINJA. I know there have been a few updates since then, but I wonder if most of the material is the same.

Depends on the section…I would only use a 2012 course for BEC

Thanks everyone. My plan it to start with FAR first and keep AUD last, given I passed it before and it was quite easy (working experience). I'll consider purchasing separately, but if I do that I'll end up spending more money.

Well let your goal be to pass. I spent money on the complete set of materials not realizing how much time goes by before you will utilize it. Cpaexcel is a good product, but can become over whelming (personal experience), but it might be fine for you given how you learn. Hey if you have the bucks and don't mind spending, do what you have to do.

I paid 999 for Gleim and passed (if you skip the online access you can spend a lot less). If I had more money I would choose Roger since he keeps you interested. With Gleim you need to work harder since no one is holding your hand.

    CPA - Since 2015
    CISA - Smashed 2012
    CIA - Passed 2015
