Hello everyone, I am trying to get my CPA, but when i read my old textbooks nothing is coming back to me and I barely understand anything. I graduated college about 6 years ago and haven’t done much in accounting, mostly just clerk work.

The reason I want to get my CPA is because there isn’t really any other options left for me and I’m a hard worker so I believe if I have the right path I am able to pass it!

I just need to know is there a possibility of me passing my CPA exam at all with almost no knowledge left in accounting?

And where should I begin to study? or what should I do?

Any kind of direction would help me greatly, Thank you for your time!!

From what I hear, you should try Yaeger, because he actually explains it to you and you can supplement it with Wiley exam Qs book. I wouldn't suggest getting Becker, because I feel like it's made for people who still have some accounting knowledge (either from school or experience). It's pretty straight forward, and sometimes, I feel like I have to research some of the information my class didn't cover.

I don't have experience with Yaeger, but I am currently using Becker right now.

Well I'm trying to start with FAR, because it has the most information and I think pretty much covers everything (including the basics). It's also the hardest. People do it differently, so start with what works with you.

You can do it!! Good luck.

I found CPA Excel did a great job of breaking things down into bite size pieces…if that's what you find that you are needing.
