Recommendations, please! I graduated from college 14 years ago and thought I had narrowed it down to Rogers and CPAexcel, but now I am confused. Both are highly reviewed, but my concern is that they may be too summarized for someone that had been out of school for a while?

Thoughts, comments, opinions please! I would like to purchase today.

I graduated way back 2004 somewhere in Southeast Asia. Though I have my CPA in my native country, I still felt the need to get my US CPA designation. My research of my review materials went down to the last 2 choices – either CPAexcel or Yaeger. In the end I chose CPAexcel, and I haven't been disappointed yet.

    FAR - 89 Dec 2013 (CPAExcel)
    AUD - 89 Feb 2014 (CPAExcel)
    BEC - 83 Aug 2014 (Becker)
    REG - 85 Oct 2014 (Becker)

CMA (Aug 2011), CFSA (Dec 2008), Philippine CPA (Nov 2004)

I don't know that any of these courses will leave you lacking for information.

My recommendation is to choose the course that best suits your style of learning. Do you need videos or classroom instructions? Do you do better with self-study and lots of MCQ's? Each course offers different things with different styles.

My choice ultimately came down to my desire to self-study without classes/videos. I have a hard time focusing on the material when presented in a lecture setting, and have always learned better by reading the text and performing practice problems to enhance comprehension and to help it sink in. I chose Gleim because they offered that for a reasonable price and gave me the ability to practice more MCQ's and Sims than I could stomach.

Regardless of which one you pick, your success will only relate to how much effort you put into the preparation. There's no magic bullet to passing this thing. You just gotta dive in and get your hands dirty.

Honestly speaking, Gleim is good too (I just didn't want to use them again since I used Gleim for my CMA). But agree on all points mentioned by @Drake11.

Wiley CPAexcel has a $300 off coupon or iPad Mini right now.

The coupon is one of the reasons that I wanted to purchase today. In searching through the forums for more information, it sounds like a lot of people are unhappy with the new test bank with cpaexcel?

One of the reasons I took CPAexcel is because of the free Ipad Mini, and they gave out free Wiley test bank too when I bought it! (though I didn't use Wiley test bank at all for FAR and AUD)

@aleesara01 – I dont think the CPAexcel test bank is the one that stinks, I think it's the new Wiley test bank.

And by the way, you may want to ask Jeff if he has plans to produce a complete CPA review material (so you can forget about Becker, CPAexcel, etc) 😀

To build on what Drake said about learning style, you should go to YouTube to watch sample videos to see if their videos fit your learning style.

Roger has a very high energy style with catchy songs and rhymes, that I think are great, but they are too much for some (I remember seeing one comment from someone who said they wouldn't be able to handle more than about 5 minutes of him). Some video teachers have a much more dry style that is preferred by some, but boring to others (i.e. fall asleep in 5 minutes).

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I've been out of school for 9 years now. I passed three sections with Becker and then started to hit my head against the wall with FAR. I have found WTB to be invaluable. More importantly, WTB licenses their questions from the AICPA, so it is similar to what one is likely to encounter exam day.

Whichever course you use, it is not unheard of to utilize Wiley Test Bank as a supplement.

    AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
    BEC - 74 , 77
    REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
    FAR - 69 , 75
