So I just got back my first two exam scores (AUD and BEC) and needless to say I failed. I got a 66 on AUD and 68 on BEC. Yea, pretty bad. I am currently attending an in-class reviews for FAR and hopelessly studying for my exam next month. I really feel like there is just too much material for me to learn. I 100% understand everything during the class, but then when I do the multiple choice the next day, I feel like I know nothing. The material is just not sticking with me. On top of that, I find it extremely difficult to study for more than an hour or so at a time (impossible even).

I ABSOLUTELY need to pass one section before the end of the year when the requirements in my state change to 150 credits or I would have to go back to school. Does anybody out there have studying advice?

P.S. I work full time at a public accounting firm, so my free time is extremely limited

@ nrp123 – I am in a similar boat. Just found out I failed AUD with a 64 and am still waiting to hear back on BEC. Since I have not passed one take my advice with a grain of salt. I have found that I learn best by doing thousands of multiple choice questions. I went through 12,000 for AUD, 6,000 for BEC and have gone through 6,000 so far for REG. I can honestly say that this helps me personally with retaining the information. If you are saying that you understand the material but aren't doing as well on the MCQ my advice would be to start focusing on going through as many questions as possible. Just make sure to understand why you get each one right and each one wrong. Good luck!

Just thought of another thing regarding studying more than an hour. I do MCQs in batches of 20. Any more than than that and I feel I am just not getting anything out of it. If I am at home I will usually do a set of 20, take a quick break and clean the house or something and then do another set of 20.

One tip is to not look at the MCQ as questions you should do well on, but as an extension of the course. What I mean is learn from the questions. Look at the right answer, why it is right and why the others are wrong.

When i was studying for FAR I would do the lectures and study then when I got to the questions I had no idea how to apply what I learned to get the right answers. Just make sure you realize what the question is asking and the steps to arrive at the answer and you will be fine.

Another tip is to buy the Wiley FAR book. I bought it on amazon for like $40 bucks and just use it for the extra 1,200 or so questions and the 140+ sims. Personally I think the sims in wiley are better than becker when it comes to FAR.
