I lost it and started crying one night because I couldn’t find my ‘good’ red pen that I use to underline and make notes in my study materials…(turned out my fiancée accidentally took it to work. He apologized profusely.)

Has anyone else had any experiences where this exam has caused behavior that is totally out of line of how you normally behave?

Here is my list (historically organized):

    1. Today: I got lost on my way to the office. Twice. I've been going to the same office for the past 4 years.

    2. Yesterday: Got my last exam score “74”. I took a shower, and went to work. I realized it was only 6:30 AM WHEN I GOT TO THE OFFICE.

    3. Appx. a week before each test: I forget how to communicate in a normal way, like I can't speak properly. My fiance and family got used to my monkey language during those times but boy does it suck when you have a walkthrough with the client..and forget what your fraud related questions are.

    4. Random crying on the subway. If you live in the NYC and see a person silently crying, go and ask her if she needs help with her becker app. It's probably me.

    5. Last summer I found myself interviewing with a company in Singapore (cause I can't take the stress of taking exams anymore and of course moving across the ocean is the best solution ever).

    6. Random purchases on amazon – especially socks.

I've had some of the moments that y'all are describing and the fact that y'all are having them really concerns me. My breakdown moment was squalling like a baby because I couldn't find the cord for my electric blanket at 4:30 in the morning. I knew something was seriously wrong. Doctor confirmed it! I would feel a lot better if the following people would please go get a complete physical immediately:

    howmany74s – I did all of those except #5

Not joking here. I'm worried about y'all.

I've had a complete physical recently and aside from my overweight issue (my next goal is to lose the CPA and baby weight) I was fit as a fiddle. Something specific I should have them check for?

Kricket – I got a full physical twice this year and nothing came out wrong. What are you suggesting/implying? I would love to hear more!

I am getting angry or even crying if household objects are not where they should be or dishes are not arranged properly inside of the dishwasher! Ether I got some stress induced OCD or maybe always had it and it just got out of hand because of the studying.

In my defense I had just spent an hour and a half stuck in traffic with an infant that wouldn't stop crying. The thought of driving back home after 4 hours of sleep was just too much.

    Take a vacation.

    1. Stress is worse than any passing.

    2. You can't pass if stressed anyway, so don't waste your energy.

I may have to disagree with “you can't pass if stressed” because I have been incredibly stressed through a lot of this process. It has been noted by srveral people that I am a completely different person since getting my final passing score. I guess it justs depends on how stressed you are and how you react to it, whether it affects your studying or not.

I do think it is better to deal with it than to let it build. There were many times that I felt like a ticking time bomb and that is not good.

The day before I took REG, which was on 11/25, we lost power at our house at 1:00 in the afternoon. I was calling the electric company at least once every 15 minutes to see when it was going to be restored so I could study…….

(The power didn't come back on until 9:30 pm — at that point I was hysterical)…

Did your doctors check your thyroid? That little thing controls a lot of stuff including short term memory, fatigue, and sleep cycles. I would study and know my stuff but I would get to Prometric and go completely blank. Apparently being confused, fatigued and sleepy is not conducive to passing the CPA exam. I had thyroid cancer but didn't know it until I was done. Some of the comments y'all made reminded me of the things I used to do.

The fact that Kricket ran in here and told us we may have serious problems and we needed to be seen by a doctor and then vanished without further explanation is making me psycho. I just coughed and freaked out that I have whooping cough or pneumonia or SARS disease or the bird flu. That's messed up Kricket….real messed up. 🙂

@Kricket — My doctor told me today that I have thyroid issues and I was blaming the studying all along…….

Please do NOT ignore a thyroid issue. I am serious. Any type of thyroid disease has the potential to go VERY VERY bad.

Sorry to freak you out Momabear!

@Kricket — I am glad my doctor found it. Apparently my mother has thyroid issues as well.
