Just a random musing the day before I take AUD. No personal anecdotes to convey but I was curious if anyone has ever felt like this entire process did enough damage to his or her personal (or professional) life so much that he or she can say it “ruined their life”? I bet it has happened before….

Used Becker for all four parts. Supplemented it with Wiley Test Bank for FAR and REG (HIGHLY recommended) and NINJA notes.

@hasy I run a business, mentor college kids, am a distance runner, do taxes and business consulting on the side and TRY to eat healthy on top of studying. It’s a matter of priorities- sometimes friends are down the list. 🙁

I think studying for the last one is in fact ruining my life. I am miserable. I started a new job and only have weekends to study. I have let myself go-I don’t workout and my clothes no longer fit me. I eat bad food because I dint have time to shop.

I think it is the combo of the new job and studying. I grumpy because I’m naturally active and sit 12 hours a day M-F and now most of the weekend. I, too have melt downs, I am doing irreversible damage to my relationship with my partner. I really need this to end.

@Nessie I feel very similar to you! I changed jobs, ended a very serious relationship, and gained about 18 lbs..my physical and mental health have taken a hit. I definitely have almost no friends except coworkers and people on this blog which is sad..however it makes it easy to study when no one is asking to do anything on weekends anymore. But maybe it isn't the exam it is our mentality about the situation. I get super down over this, but just recently started envisioning the future and how amazing it will feel when we finally pass. Also, thinking of how much other people go through this really inst thhhhhattt bad I mean we could be dying or starving or something actually serious. I know it sucks and am there with you, but we can't keep dragging this out. I am too far into this to quit and will regret it forever if I stop now :/ I am very thankful for this online community to vent and have support though.

It hasn't ruined my life per se, but it has affected my life for sure.
Prior to the CPA journey, I spent 24/7 with my daughter. As I started studying for CPA, I started sending her to preschool and my husband had to pick up a lot of chore and child care duties. I was gone for the most part to a library, Panera bread etc. to study especially in the last week before each exam. Now I feel like I forget how to spend a full day with my daughter.

Hey Nancy, thanks for your comments. I think I was just getting a little depressed on a Saturday night- studying for close to 2 years now. It’s good to know there are people on this site who can relate. And, I know of a few who have lost loved ones over the span of studying, so there certainly are people who have to go through worse times than I to get it done.

I really need to get positive…I think I’ll scroll through this site to see if I can find any CPA exam motivation exercises.

I’m at 17 months doing this. I have had some bad things happen, and failing exams was not the worst in the past 2 years. This last 74 on FAR sure has been hard to take, but I will try again. Just keep swimming. 😉

Kind of. These exams has wear me down mentally. I took a few days off during the holiday break and it felt amazing not having to think about studying. But after the break I was a little down knowing I have to see another MCQ.

Since I have started this whole process I have talked less to my family and friends.. Seems like I am missing out a lot of family time. I can't wait for this to be over with.
