    Hello guys again,

I wasn’t surprise that I failed again, but I was surprise when I saw the score was the same ” 39 ” in the second exam that I take it back on July.!!

I’m not sure why all my scores are in 39 zone.!!

I tried Roger, Becker and whily test bank.! all of them give me the same result

this week I will buy the full ninja materials, and hopefully I can get out from 3x zone

I know some of you guys are sick of me when I post here, but I have feeling from the beginning when I registered that someone can guide me to the right way. A lot of good people out there , and this forum basically is union them here

    Thanks,

What are your study habits? Not to sound harsh but I wouldn't place blame squarely on the materials. You have Roger, Wiley and Becker? Most people are able to get by with just one of those (maybe two).

How are you doing in the homework? Are you relying strictly on the lectures for the information? The biggest trick is the master the homework. Also, don't go into the Becker lectures highlighting the book like Salvador Dali on LSD. Pull out a notepad and start taking notes, just as you would any lecture in college. When you're done taking notes, do some homework and take more notes on the homework, little facts are also found in the homework explanations.

Keep going like this until you start having a better grasp. After which, re-write your notes. Then, do it all over again to pick up what you may have missed. This sounds time consuming, and it is. However, you have to ask yourself if the three letters behind you name is what you really want? If so, get to work. Because if you think you are going to pass these beast doing it half-assed you are only setting yourself up for failure. I know this because I was the king of half-ass studying, and if you read Jeff's story; so was he.

Let us know your study habits and perhaps we can help get you over this hump.

@I'mRonBurgundy, Thank for your time. I really appreciate it

Will, I will talk about how did I study depends on the last exam I took.!

I was relying on Roger and wiley test bank, since I took the exam on July with Becker courses.

I started to watch all the lecturers and highlighting the notes on the book, then when I finish all the videos with the class homework, I go to wiley test bank and chose Practice Session, before that I make sure when I chose the model on the website I already studied again.! for example, ‘ Risk Management and Capital Budgeting ” before I go practice it, I go to the book and study the chapters that include Risk Management and Capital Budgeting subjects, and so on..

When I practice I chose 200 MCQ, since 200 is the maxim. Then when I do it, sometime I use ” hint ” or ” Text Link ” to help me to chose the right answer, and what ever I do wrong answer, I write the correct answer on the note that located in bottom for every question, and so on…

Last thing, when I finish them all, I go back and try to review again all the MCQ has a red flag, cause I put note on it.

That's how I did recently, and I'm not sure if is it right or not.!

Again. Thank you @I'mRonBurgundy for your time, and sorry for any convenience

    I really appreciate your help

    Thanks.

My best advice is to stop doing progress tests or huge chunks of MC questions at once. Focus one topic at a time and continue working those questions until you understand the material and then move on.

    FAR - 71, 75
    AUD - 63, 69, 77
    BEC - 61, 76
    REG - 65, 81 DONE!!!

You're way past watching lectures. If you're getting 39's, you're not using your time appropriately. You're probably still using free time to watch TV, hang out with friends, etc. There's no way that you could be dedicating 90% of your daily time to studying and still end up with a 39 or in that area.

Adding more materials will not, I repeat, will NOT raise your score. Right now, it's your study habits that are dwindling.

    My advice:

1.) Read. Don't watch the lectures. Read the content. After each sentence, make sure you 100% understand what was said to you. Don't skip ANYTHING that confuses you. Stop what you're doing at that point and correct whatever confusion you have.

2.) Stop memorizing MCQ's. It sounds like you're falling into the “I know the answers because I've seen this question” area. Know why the answers are both right and wrong without any assistance. Be able to know in a way where you could explain to someone else why A, B, and C are wrong and why D is right.

My guess is that you're not 100% comprehending the material that you're studying.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

    you basically have two options

    1) Quit your job and study full time because a 39 is horrific. To be completely honest if i guessed C for every answer and put 0 in for every sim, I'd expect at least a 40.

    Or

    2) Quit this exam, you weren't mean't for this.

By “study habits” I think Ron means things like how many hours are you studying each day and for how many weeks. If you're studying the same amount or close to the same as for a final exam in college, that's not nearly enough. It has to be waaaaaaay more than that. Do you have a quiet room away from distractions? Do you study every day and grab even half an hour here and there so you can fit in more studying?

Are you doing practical applications that will prepare you for sims, or just MCQs?

And I totally agree with the method here and NINJA method of taking and rewriting notes. There is a mind-body connection that happens when you write something down that helps you learn it better that does not happen when you just read, watch, or highlight. The physical act of writing it down helps your brain process it in a more thorough way.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I agree with InfernoOmni— do not waste any more money on additional study materials because it sounds like you are not understanding the material.

Some study tools I use to make sure I am understanding the topic are:

    – explain a topic to someone who isn't an accountant (or to myself in the mirror!)

    – rewrite my notes in my own words

    – if I read something in the study materials and it doesn't make sense to me, I google the topic and gather information from various sources until it does make sense.

    – create “cheat sheets” for each topic— basically one sheet of paper that has the most important items in a condensed format

    – when answering a MCQ, also explain to yourself why the other three answers are incorrect.

Also, I've read in your other posts that you are ESL. First of all, kudos for attempting this exam– it must be twice as hard for you than for native English speakers. Secondly, I would highly recommend to continue to work on your English skills. So many of the questions on all four exams will test your ability to fully comprehend what they are asking.

    F- 7/13- 84
    R- 10/13- 79
    A- 11/13- 99
    B- 1/14- 86

    Licensed in PA- 3/20/2014

This exam ALMOST defeated me back in 2006-2008, but I came back and WON!

    Well Emma5,

Don't give up…it takes a little more studying for some than others. You need to start from the beginning and give yourself time to study. Sometimes we could be set on a particular test date and really under prepared. I think you have good study materials, the ninja package would help but you got to be comfortable with the materials. I personally wouldn't buy any new materials. So don't give up….we (A71 Family) are not tired of you….keep posting, keep working, keep studying and pass will be the result. This is not easy at all, if it was we would all be CPA's already. The others have said already to grasp the materials, make sure you understand. The mcq's can be a handy cap but use your notes as you go over questions and jot down fact nuggets.

Jump in on the various topic study discussions, believe me you are not the only one struggling.

If there is a will, then there is a way…..Good luck.

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass
