So I was just wondering if y’all had a method of determining whether you are on target with your study material? I have a method I use that has worked pretty spot on for me and I thought it might be helpful to share. This only works if you have a software that tracks your study time.
To begin, I write the date I started studying on the inside cover of my textbook. So say my textbook is 500 pages and I finish a chapter for the night- let’s say it’s page 160. I write the following: 160/500= 32% complete
Wiley tells me that for this section I have studied a total of 25 hours. I want to find an approximate time I should be finished based on my current pace, so I write: 32/100 = 25/x .. Solving for x, I get approximately 78 hours total.
Say the date I started studying was 9/1 and “today” is 9/20. I want to get my average hours per day, so I write 25/20 and come up with 1.25 avg hours per day.
Well now I want to know how many days I have left according to my current pace, so I write: 78-25= 53
53/1.25= 42.4 more days.
I figure out what that date is, write it in my book and do this calculation every couple days and I find it’s almost always spot on!
The date may be obvious the closer I get to being finished, but it’s quite helpful when I’m first starting out- it especially alerts me as to when I’m slacking.FAR 4/24/16 --85--
