I haven’t even taken a part of the CPA exam yet, but I’m reviewing for FAR using Becker and it has dawned on me as to why I am so frustrated; the questions in the homework and the lecture content seem to have a major disconnect going on.

I’m in F3, which is supposed to be hard. I breezed through the material in the lecture and the class questions. I consider myself to be pretty strong in consolidations as it was the main topic of my Advanced Accounting class in which I was one of the top performers.

So, is this disconnect just an inaccurate perception of mine or has anyone else noticed this same frustrating problem and if you did, what do you do about it?!

I noticed too that there are some homework problems that arent covered in the lecture. Its to be expected, they can't really lecture on EVERYTHING that could be on the test, and the questions they use for homework are old exam questions purchased from the AICPA. Some are published by Becker, but for the most part they are purchased from the AICPA and then Becker tries to put them together in common categories and create lectures on all the major concepts.

You are three chapters into the first test and you are “frustrated beyond belief”? lol. This is going to be a long road for you.

I just took FAR and used Becker exclusively. I thought Becker was awesome and covered everything that appeared on my test. Just go through the materials two or three times and do a ton of questions. The Becker materials will get you through the test. Good luck!
