    Hi all,

I am writing here because I don’t want to feel like I am the only one going though this….

I am a 32-year-old male guy who started studying for the CPA exam in July 2013 and today, March 27, 2014, I am studying for my last exam: BEC. I am hoping to pass it by the end of May 2014.

I love going to the gym and I ought to say that what drives me into getting this done done is the fact that once I will be a CPA I will finally have free nights to go back to the gym. Meanwhile, I just can’t…. I need 8 hours of sleep to function properly. Then I go to work at 9am and stay sat down at my desk until 8pm. Then drive back to home and sit down at my home desk to study for the CPA until midnight. This caused me to gain weight. I do not know my current weight, but I know that I had to buy new suit pants because size 32 looks like a kids size to me now! I recently bought 4 new pairs of size 36 pants and those are now fitting my belly, which is now grossly sticking out…

Is anybody else in my same situation? I am considering a starvation diet since anything that I eat. even a tiny meal, magically transforms into additional adipose tissue!!!! I am so gross!!!!!

I just want to cuddle with my cat forever, then sleep and never wake up! I feel so nasty!

No, I need to get this done because once I am done I will look awesome again!!

But then I will also be older and I will not be able to lose weight as fast as I used to….

Maybe I should try cat food… it may make me lose weight!

    I am turning mental!

    CPA exam, I hate you!!!!

I can empathize with every post, and then some.

I started on 4/12? Just passed FAR, lost AUD. Gearing up to finish it off in May.

My blazers don't fit, my best jeans look funny and I feel like sh*t. I took my road bike out the other weekend and banged out forty miles. I'm going to give myself permission to mix some riding in with the studying as it warms up. An AUD retake is the only section with which I feel comfortable doing this. The pros of balancing both study and some excercise are are that I feel more alert and mentally balanced. The cons are that oftentimes I'm so spent after my long rides that I shower and pass out… and there goes a whole study evening.

After May I get my life back. I get my riding routine back, and I'm going to work it off in a matter of two months. 100-150 miles per week..get myself a shiny upgrade for passing and enter some organized rides.

I'm also a stress eater, I swear my fiance just placed small snack plates of stuff as I sat at my battle station for hours each evening… it was worth it.

    AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
    BEC - 74 , 77
    REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
    FAR - 69 , 75

hkumar, you are right..diet is the biggest contributor. However, to eat healthy you need to have healthy foods at home and to do that you need to shop healthy and when you are studying and running a 100 miles making sure the house/family does not fall on your head.. you end up giving into your cravings of junk food…

Hit the stairs this morning while reading a copule of outlines. It really helped. It wasn't much. I only did 15 minutes, with 5 min of weights in the aerobics room, but it made a world of difference. And honestly, if 20 minutes a day a few times a week makes me fail the exam, then I wasn't ready anyway.

When I first started studying I tried to keep the workout routine in my schedule..Once I became all in (I dropped the gym and some other obligations) and I passed the rest within the year….I gained at least 20 pounds but I passed them all!!! Once you finish and you are toward the end, you can live in the gym if you want…

I wouldn't go on a starve diet though because it will negative influence your energy and that is the one thing you need to get through your last test. You can be more mindful of what you eat…I didn't though..If I wanted chips or soda to keep me energy up or just to mindfully snack I just ate it…

I am within 7 pounds of pre-CPA weight…Get through this so you can be FREE!!!

Edited to add: 32yo female/work full-time with three girls and a husband!!

    BEC: 74;81
    AUD: 77
    REG: 71; 80
    FAR: 78

Ahhh the struggle is real 🙁

I've been trying to find time to get to the gym more lately because exercise helps me concentrate/stay sane. Usually I go on the elliptical and do flash cards at the same time so I don't feel too unproductive.

    FAR 75 (8/21/13)
    AUD 72 (10/29/13) 74 (2/12/14) 84! (04/01/14)
    BEC 75 (11/27/13)
    REG 72 (05/29/14) 74 (07/10/14) 86 and DONE! (10/02/14)
