    Hi all,

I am writing here because I don’t want to feel like I am the only one going though this….

I am a 32-year-old male guy who started studying for the CPA exam in July 2013 and today, March 27, 2014, I am studying for my last exam: BEC. I am hoping to pass it by the end of May 2014.

I love going to the gym and I ought to say that what drives me into getting this done done is the fact that once I will be a CPA I will finally have free nights to go back to the gym. Meanwhile, I just can’t…. I need 8 hours of sleep to function properly. Then I go to work at 9am and stay sat down at my desk until 8pm. Then drive back to home and sit down at my home desk to study for the CPA until midnight. This caused me to gain weight. I do not know my current weight, but I know that I had to buy new suit pants because size 32 looks like a kids size to me now! I recently bought 4 new pairs of size 36 pants and those are now fitting my belly, which is now grossly sticking out…

Is anybody else in my same situation? I am considering a starvation diet since anything that I eat. even a tiny meal, magically transforms into additional adipose tissue!!!! I am so gross!!!!!

I just want to cuddle with my cat forever, then sleep and never wake up! I feel so nasty!

No, I need to get this done because once I am done I will look awesome again!!

But then I will also be older and I will not be able to lose weight as fast as I used to….

Maybe I should try cat food… it may make me lose weight!

    I am turning mental!

    CPA exam, I hate you!!!!

I started riding my bike to work (2 or 3 times/week), and going on a very short 10 minute bike ride with my dog and 2 year old in the bike trailer at night when I get home…has made a HUGE difference this month. No more full workouts, but i don't think i'm going to stop these micro workouts anytime soon.

    REG- (1) 76
    FAR- (2) 64, (5)74, (7)83 (Over achiever!)
    AUD- (3) 70, (4) 75
    BEC- (6) 75

Oh dear – where do i even start… I started this CPA journey in Aug 2012. I must have been 180 pounds then (Had gained 40 pounds up to that point because i lived in Houston where it was so hot that made me very inactive)

Since then I have been zero active and now am at 236 pounds.. Yep Super heavy… One more exam and Like you OP I want to go back to the gym and loose all this excess weight that is just not me.

Hopefully I can reach 150 to 160 pounds and then I will feel so much more “normal” when I look at myself.

Monk, Are your cats fat too? You should run with your cats at the park. Girls dig a guy who can run with his cats 🙂

Well if we're going to throw in nonCPA weight, I started the CPA 40 pounds overweight from my 4 pregnancies in 4 years. I take eating for two very seriously. 🙂 Now I'm eating for the CPA and myself, so the CPA exam is my new baby. I can't wait to have the time to get to the gym and get back into my prebaby clothes. I lost 40 pounds within 3 months after grad school and kept it off until I got pregnant years later. I did it the healthy way–work out 3 times a week, weight lift/cardio, and eating right. I plan to do the same after this exam. Need to get healthy and be a good example for my girls!

I'm not sure of your financial situations but for those of you who are worried about weight, you may want to look into T25 or P90X3 from beachbody. I've been doing these workouts since I was in college in 2009 and I will tell you, they do work. T25 the workouts are no longer than 25 mins a day for 60 days. Currently doing P90X3 and I can see results only a month in. Now I have taken AUD twice a failed twice so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt but this is my personal opinion that I just cannot believe that the 25-35mins a day is what kept me from passing and I just can't let my health deteriorate due to the exam. Then again, I am single with no kids so I do not have the stresses and responsibilities of some of you. Just throwing it out there as it helped me get rid of stress since I worked off nervous energy and always felt sort of rejuvinated after the workouts. I believe it helped me study as I was more relaxed but everyone is different. Good luck to all of you on your journey!

    AUD: (65)(66) 77
REG: (66) (48) destroyed me mentally.....
    FAR: (68) (66)(69)(71)
    BEC: (63) 75

Justanothercandidate: I have both T25 and P90X3..I love Tony Horton so had to get P90X3. I did P90X two years ago and got amazing results..then life happened!

But honestly at this point taking even 25 min seems like cheating on the exam. This might be just an excuse 🙁 who knows.. But I am planning to resume P90X3 right after Audit!

I've gained 15 pounds, I'm in denial that I need a larger size… It sucks. 31 and female, no cats. 🙂 Not sure about the cat food (yuck) but maybe some canned tuna would do the trick as a nice lean meal. (If you can call that a meal?)

I keep thinking I could listen to the Ninja audio and exercise, I could watch Review Videos on my iPad and exercise… But I'm already exhausted. I just can't do it… I'm trying to cut back on the crappy foods and overeating. Speaking of… Time to heat up my Smart One.

I bought these new skinny jeans on Amazon… They came yesterday and they are so stretchy and forgiving of my extra pounds. 🙂 https://www.amazon.com/Levis-Womens-Legging-Indigo-Affection/dp/B007RWI1E6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1395947358&sr=8-1&keywords=skinny+jeans+for+women I highly recommend them for the ladies. 🙂

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I haven't gained any weight due to 2 reasons…1) Every morning I go to Crossfit right when I wake up…I'm there warming up before I even quite realize that I'm not in bed anymore and 2) there is nothing in my house to eat that will make me gain weight. I am super lucky with a very understanding husband…he gets me to crossfit in a half comatose state and refuses to purchase any food for the house that's not Paleo approved. I pack a lunch (some of the Paleo approved stuff) so that I can study during that hour at work. At night it's usually a piece of meat on the grill along with a salad.

I gain weight super easy and am very depressed when I do. I think the exercise keeps me feeling happy and one hour less of studying a day isn't going to make a huge difference (at least not on the timeframe I'm on) and it also keeps me in the right mindframe to be effective when studying.

    FAR - 93 (YAY!!!!)
    REG - 93 (Double YAY!)
    BEC - 87 (Whew!)
    AUD - 96 (DONE!!!!!)
