How how do you find the motivation after failing multiple times? I started in August and I’m 0-3 (FAR: 70, 71 AUD: 70). I take BEC tomorrow, but I’m not confident. I studied a lot when I started 5 or so weeks ago, but I had emergency surgery 1 1/2 weeks ago so I was barely able to finish the last chapter.

I don’t want to make excuses, but life events keep happening right before my exams (family members passing and 2 relatively sudden surgeries). To make matters worse this time, I can’t even reschedule because my NTS expires Thursday. I don’t want to quit, but I’m burned out from studying. I’ve giving up time with friends and family sometime, but with nothing to show. With my REG NTS expiring 4/22, does anyone have any tips on how to regroup and get motivated again after so many failures?

    Passed all sections.

Monk: I think that is different than someone in an office saying “Oh, piece of cake” to make themselves look good (or make someone else feel bad about themselves) when they know they struggled with part or all of it. Folks can just be MEAN!

Why they gotta be so mean?? (Yes..Taylor Swift sang that in my head when I typed it!)

As you know I passed some parts like 7 years ago, and of course it will be irrelevant to put it on my signature. I meant people that have postings from 15 months ago talking about how they just took their first part, and then you see in their signature that the passed all 4 parts in 6 to 9 months. I think this only discourages new candidates as they only see your signature and go by it.

I’m doing a lot better now, but like many people say here, you will never feel 100% ready for FAR. Are you taking Audit at the end of the month? What ever happened to the cyber diva (toughkitty)?

What makes me shutter about all the fails people are experiencing is the amount of money that is being dished out to pay for the exam over and over again. My main motivator for passing would be not going bankrupt. I look forward to landing a better paying job but I can't afford to take this test multiple times.

When I study and sit for FAR again, I will go in there with an attitude of, “I cannot afford to take this gosh darn thing more than once.” Or convince myself that my 18 month old will go hungry if I don't pass.

    AUD - 10/21/16 (75----07/2010 expired)
    FAR - 10/28/16
    BEC - 11/2016
    REG - 01/2017

@CR7 I will be taking AUD on the 28th and am more worried about it than I was with FAR. I had the luxury to push back FAR a couple of weeks, because I didn't feel prepared. Since Audit is at the end of a window I am pretty much committed.

I don't know what happened to tough kitty. M.O.D also hasn't been around so maybe she settled. I sometimes wonder how long it will take me to lose interest in this site after I have my license. For tough kitty it seems to be about three months.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

i was 0-12 before my first pass and took a total of 23 exams which included 2 expired credits. my secret? NEVER GIVE UP! i was too damn stubborn to let the AICPA beat me. i decided that i was going to be a CPA, PERIOD! you could chop off my arms and legs and i'll turn the pages of my wiley book with my nose. the only way i stop is if i stop breathing, and right before my last breath i'll be answering 1 more mcq.

my journey took 7 years but you think i care? hell no! cuz i did what the f*** i came here to do and not alotta people can say that. had i quit though, it woulda been a big waste

but i have a question for all the CPAs here: did anyone else's certificate come with an asterisk at the bottom that read, “mulitple fails, not a true CPA”?

mine didn't either, a CPA is a CPA

    REG-65,71,74,73,70,74,79

Monk, I don’t go out, I don’t socialize, I hardly watch tv, I don’t play soccer anymore. As soon as Im done with this exam, I don’t think it will take me three months. Good luck with Audit.

nolifecpa, it took you 7 years? I don’t have the cojones to do what you did, and I admire your perseverance.

CR7, when's your FAR? How's the studying coming along? I've stopped playing soccer too but it's hard to not watch my favorite team play on the weekend.

Cracket, I was doing great on my first round getting 80s on every chapter. But now that Im doing cumulative tests, Im getting 70s and I forgot a lot of material from Ch 1 to 5. I hope they give a big curve in Colorado since Mary Jane is in full effect . Im taking the exam on 2/28 and you?  I don’t know how im going to study with the World cup coming soon, I hope to pass at least two parts before it starts. If Spain and USA do not go into the next round, the World cup will be over for me.
