How how do you find the motivation after failing multiple times? I started in August and I’m 0-3 (FAR: 70, 71 AUD: 70). I take BEC tomorrow, but I’m not confident. I studied a lot when I started 5 or so weeks ago, but I had emergency surgery 1 1/2 weeks ago so I was barely able to finish the last chapter.

I don’t want to make excuses, but life events keep happening right before my exams (family members passing and 2 relatively sudden surgeries). To make matters worse this time, I can’t even reschedule because my NTS expires Thursday. I don’t want to quit, but I’m burned out from studying. I’ve giving up time with friends and family sometime, but with nothing to show. With my REG NTS expiring 4/22, does anyone have any tips on how to regroup and get motivated again after so many failures?

    Passed all sections.

Personally when I see people like BaxterCPA and Kricket, I get motivated and pumped. When it took over 20 times and they still made it, hopefully I don't have to fail that many times but if that's how I am going to make it, so be it. Keep pushing, I hear that the first pass is big motivation and I am looking forward to that.

    FAR - 71, 68, 74, (8/31/14) 78 ✔
    REG - 67, 71, 71, (10/18/14) 78 ✔
    BEC - (11/29/14) 86 ✔
    AUD - 73, (4/4/15) 86 ✔

I can't believe this is over! 2 years and 3 months..

    Hang in there @Kls238

It took me a couple of times to pass Audit.

Each time I took it I realized – I wasn't studying enough and didn't understand the concept as well as I thought.

The CPA is very passable – a real shock compared to college studying.

Staying focused and determined – is key – & just putting in the time –

    AUD--52,68,83, expired. Retake = 74 RETAKE - 7.24.26
    FAR--73,70,68,75
    BEC-- 79
    REG-- 68,62,75

Well seeing this I truely know I am not alone. I have taken part so many times. I even passed BEC once and then lost the credit. My journey started the fall of 2005 with the Northern review. I was all into it starting with my weak area of REG a friend had convinced me to start this journey. I wasn't ready but jumped in with her. Well after my friend took the exam and failed she gave up the journey leaving me on my own. I took all 4 reviews from Northern live class. Purchased the Gliem software. This has been such a long journey I don't even reall when I purcahsed stuff. I had purchased all of Becker material and used only Reg and Audit trying to pass so the BEC and FAR material expired before I could even watcha a lector. After that happened I decided to research and get material with quesitons that don't ahve a time limit. I purchased CPA Excel. I used CPA Excel for questions and finally passed BEC Feb 19, 2011. Wow that feeling of passing. So then I moved my focus to passing Audit. I was so close in the 70's numerous times how could I not pass. Then the 18 month pass and I don't pass anything else and I lose the credit for BEC. I studying for months every night after work Sept-Nov for Reg only to get a score of 67. I was using the Becker material as I went back to the live course and had the material. I have Reg rescheduled for April 12th. I think I am going to use CPA Excel questions as those seemed to be the key for me on passing BEC. When I took Reg I had worked all the quesitons from Becker 3 times for the tax adn 2 times for the business law and ethics. When I got my breakout I was fine with the business law and ethics. The killer is hearing a friend say who just started this I barely studied and passed on my first try. I know testing comes easy for some but at the same time it is frustrating to keep going.

Dimadl I know how you feel. We spend so much time and lock ourselves up and miss out on things and events and receive a failing score, it is pretty tough. Never give up 😉

You need to get angry. Very very very angry. Think Steven King's “Carrie” setting things on fire with your mind kinda angry. That's how I finally beat evil audit and FAR!!!! I would write down all the mean comments I received, then draw a line through, and write underneath “one more hour. 100 more MCQS. 10 more SIMS” and look at it every time I felt like walking away from my desk that night. You have to refuse to quit.

Look at Kricket, Baxter, and mla who had so many obstacles in their way and they came through in the end!!!

Some people dream of success…others wake up and work hard for it. YOU can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    REG: 75 DONE 🙂
    AUD: 61, 71, 68, 92 DONE 🙂
    BEC: 76 DONE 🙂
    FAR: 72, 74, 79 DONE 🙂

I second what Baxter said about CPAs not wanting to admit that they struggle and fail multiple times before passing the exam. I found a few on this forum. A lot of individuals have on their signature that they were done with the exam in less than 9 months, but if you take a look at their history of postings, you will see that they had taken their first exam 15 months before they became CPAs. There are not that many individuals as honest as Baxter. I guess this is part of human nature.

@CR7 Disclosure: I failed BEC with a score of (67) six years ago. I am not putting it on my signature, because I am trying to forget about the lack of willpower to continue I had back then. If I end up passing every exam I can say that I passed all in 7 months not working, or it could be 7 years depending on how you look at it. If I fail BEC again I will put that old score in my signature as a compromise 😉

    Hows FAR studying going?

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

Monk: I think that is different than someone in an office saying “Oh, piece of cake” to make themselves look good (or make someone else feel bad about themselves) when they know they struggled with part or all of it. Folks can just be MEAN!

Why they gotta be so mean?? (Yes..Taylor Swift sang that in my head when I typed it!)
