Flashcards Question (Becker Vs. Ninja)

Last time I took FAR, a friend was kind enough to lend me her set of Becker flashcards. They help tremendously with memorizing the concepts. But FAR was a beast and I was defeated.

Now I’m preparing for AUD-B with Becker and I feel like I’m not getting the materials as I should. I’m thinking of purchasing my own set of flashcards to aid with studying. Making the cards myself is not an option, so I’m looking to you fellow A71ers for advice on purchase decision:

    1. Becker 2013 flashcards – about $200 on eBay

    2. Ninja Flashcards – $99

    3. CPA Excel – $150 physical cards, $35 Android app / section

I like to have an actual deck of card to flip through. Those of you who have seen both or own one of the above, could you please advise?

    Thank you,

    REG - 72, 72, 81
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 70, 81
    AUD - 74 "so that's what it feels like." Round 2: 79

Passing the exam is not impossible task. GIVING UP is the only way YOU can make it impossible!

If you like to have actual cards, you can buy the Becker Flashcards, then enter them on Brainscape which is a flashcard maker website. You can then access them online or download the app on your phone and have them on the go.

I have both Ninja and Becker flashcards (and I did the above with the Becker flashcards just because re-writing the flashcards helped with studying).

I have the Becker ones – not worth double the cost of Jeff's flash cards. Be careful about buying on ebay since Becker has strict rules about reselling (you can't!) so you could get ripped off by someone…

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!

I prefer the Ninja Cards to the Becker Cards! A friend who no longer needed her Becker Auditing Cards loaned them to me for Audit retake 3 but I didn't find them to be concise or helpful. I think a flashcard should be a questions with a concise 2-3 sentence answer statement on the back…not 3-4 paragraphs in size 5 font!!! I'm not suggesting EVERY card was like that but I made sure to weed out the many cards like that and I whittled the deck to down to a size I felt was reasonable yet still efficient and effective. The Ninja cards are much more concise and concentrated which for me is the best way to go.

    Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thank you for the responses!

The Brainscape idea seems like a great idea but it's currently not available on other mobile platform besides ios yet.

Must be something in the air as prices for Becker flashcards on eBay have been going above $200. The other day someone bid up to about $140 for Audit set of flashcards. I'm leaning toward the Ninja flashcards right now, I'll re-evaluate next week as I'll be going deeper into the materials.
