    Hi,

Just wanted to share with you my flashcard strategy — I find it EXTREMELY helpful in cramming all this stuff into my brain.

I have been using anki ( https://ankisrs.net/ ) which is a spaced repetition system. You have to download it to your computer (I’ve had it on mine for months and haven’t gotten any viruses yet, based on the number of users I assume it is quite safe). Then you can create flashcards (techies can play with all the complex features, but I just use basic and paste images into it if needed for formulas — no time to learn the complexities!).

Here is the cool part: When you review cards, you select how hard the card was, and based on your rating the software schedules the card again using an algorithm that considers things like how many times you’ve answered it, how hard it was, etc. Amazing. Absolutely perfect for when you are studying things over a long period of time.

I would highly recommend it (or another spaced repetition system) to anyone studying for the CPA exam. The only drawback is you have to be at a computer to use it (although I believe there is a fancy-phone app as well).

I hope some people can find this useful!

That is a pretty cool application. Would be perfect for this group. People could create Anki flashcard decks and share them…

FYI Jeff's flashcard app works the same way. It uses an algorithm to determine how often to how you the card based on your responses indicating how well you remembered the answers. You can also create your own flashcards.

I've used Jeff's flashcards for REG and it really helped me nail down some of the finer points that I always was forgetting.
