First-time test taker, is this study plan ok?

I am not going to set a certain number of hours to study a day because that just doesn’t seem realistic with 2 young kids and a full time job. BUT my plan is try to get thru the lectures on 2-3 sections during Monday-Friday, then on the weekends go back and read the book. That will leave me with about 4 weeks to go back and do MCQ, Simulations, and re-writing Ninja notes. Does this plan seem like it will work. I don’t know how much I am actually getting out of lectures, hopefully more than I think. It feels like I don’t know any of what I’m learning.

I use Becker and sometimes I feel the same way about the lecture. I find it more useful to skim the material then watch the video lecture bc at least you've seen what they are talking about and even what they skip over. Best of luck, you have a full plate—IF you mean lectures…and they are as comprehensive as becker, meaning Financial is 10 lectures abt 3-4 hrs each, not including the hwk during the week??I think it's unrealistic…or hell if you can do it

When I run out of time studying –Which I have on the last 2 exams bc of poor scheduling & trying to plan a wedding in record time, I skip the lecture entirely and read/do questions. You see what/why you get stuff wrong and that sort of makes up for the lecture. I watched BEC videos 1-3 entirely. 4,5,6, read and did questions only. Exam this afternoon, we'll see how it works out

I would really recommend that you write your own notes while you listen to the lecture. This typically helps people retain the information and then you can use your notes and the Ninja Notes to study on and review with.

I am already thru the lectures on sections F1-F3. I thought it was recommended on doing the homework after all lectures are complete. I am making notes in my book during lectures and I can re-write them when I read the book on the weekends.

oh hm? I don't know what your materials recommend. I know with Becker they tell you to minimize the time between watching the lecture and doing the hwk. So I always skim lecture/watch lecture/do hwk. then move to next subject. Do w/e works best for you, if you don't have a hard time recalling what you learned then maybe that works best? I think I would end up wasting a lot of time trying to relearn from my notes. I do make flashcards out of order. Becker says to do that after the hwk, but I do it during lecture for things I don't immediately get.

But I think it's all about what program you are taking and how they structure it for you, I have read abt ninja notes and ppl re-writing etc. I didn't know they advise hwk at the end.

I prefer to do the MCQ homework right after each video/lesson. It forces me to be more attentive during the videos, pay attention, and take notes. If I were to watch all videos of F1-F9 before starting MCQs, I won't pay much attention with the mindset I'm not going to retain much of F1 by the time I'm done with F9.

Oh me. I was thinking everyone was having luck with the ninja plan to hammer out lectures. I was doing lecture, read chapter, homework, onto next chapter. Then switched to this format.

I think as others have suggested, it's what you think will work for you. I use Yaeger and in the lectures, they go over a decent number of multiple choice with you. So, for me it makes sense to just get through all the lectures first, then do all the multiple choice at the end. The nice thing about doing all the lectures first is that you can kind of get them all out of the way and feel productive. It sucks if you are spending two weeks on just one topic since you are trying to do everything related to that topic before going to the next one. Maybe you can split the difference and do just some of the multiple choice questions to reinforce the concepts after watching the lecture and do the rest when you are finished watching all of the lectures?
