    Hello everyone,

So today I received my first fail of this journey to be a CPA. I am planning on working harder but that will be tough because I worked my butt off in the first place trying to pass FAR. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to rebound from a fail. Id love to hear anyone’s thoughts. Thanks!

I think for FAR you need to grasp an basic understanding of financial reporting. Knowing what entries to make in various scenarios and how to build up three major stmt might help you to pass this exam. FAR is not a section you can have a crash course and then pass, understanding why and how a journal entry is made would help. Believe in yourself you can do it

Really every time I failed I took a few days to be upset, then started over from scratch as if I'd never taken it before. Was lucky I only had to do that 3 times, but eventually I passed all 4.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

You should study from the beginning in my opinion. Try writing notes over and over until you get why a certain calculation/JE is done the way it is. I was really lucky to pass FAR because who knows 2 or wrong answers and I could've failed it. Maybe challenge yourself to answer more MCQs than your previous attempt? Good luck CPA_ME!

    BEC 82 Nov 2012 | REG 80 Feb 2013 | FAR 76!!! Apr 2013 | AUD 69 May 2013 | AUD 83!!! Aug 2013

Done!! Thanks Jeff & A71 friends!

I failed all four on the first try all in a row. I wasn't studying how you need to be studying. Truthfully, I didn't know how to study. I still don't really but I go through EVERYthing and make sure I know it. You can't just swing by kinda knowing things like you did in school. It seems like every question on the exam has two answers that COULD be correct… you have to know 100% which is correct to pass.

Take a couple days and shake it off. If you were close, do that exam again… maybe a little break will help clear your head of the jumble, then redo ALL notes and google as much stuff as you can. (I found lots of flashcards, notes, Becker material, Wiley material) Go through 2009-2013 recently released questions (Just search google “Becker recently released 2009 REG” for example)

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83
