I’m an emotional wreck and feel like doing nothing. I’ve worked out almost 2 hours today to keep my mind off of her.

I have so much stuff to go over with BEC, exam is Sunday. I just don’t feel like doing anything right now.

    What should I do?

car80x – I am sorry to hear this. I am with Jeff on this as well – if you are able to reschedule I think you should. Sometimes life throws things at you that you can not control and unfortunately can not seem to get yourself together. My sister has been missing since March 27th and the first 5-6 months I couldn't do anything. Somehow you have to remind yourself of why you got into studying for the CPA exam and keep pushing forward. Decide that yes right now is a hard time and you need some time to regroup – that is OK! Have you passed any of the tests? If the 18 month rule isn't pushing down on you then don't stress too much about taking a little time off. You will come back stronger. Best of luck.

I do have to say that I ended up taking my BEC exam not very long after finding out my sister was missing – and honestly did not have the motivation to study those last days before my exam and didn't feel like I passed it – but I did. If you have had good study habits up until now perhaps you can do the same.

While nobody would fault you for rescheduling if that's an option, throwing yourself into studying 200% might be just the distraction you need right now while you are coping with this devastating loss. I'm so sorry.

No advice. All of that has been covered quite well up to this point. Just logged on to give my support. I can empathize with what you are going through and its not something to be taken lightly. I hope the best for you in working out your current situation, and with the remainder of your exams.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone's great advice / and moral support. It's amazing to see so many people are so kindhearted. I've hung out with some friends, sat on the couch, and watched basketball all night. I'm still quite upset and still not eating (yeah, I can't really eat or sleep much at all right now)…but I'll manage. I'm going to take the test Sunday regardless if I study anymore. I'm gonna try and redo all of the Wiley CPA questions by then and hope for the best. I don't personally feel nearly as ready as I should (when does anyone ever feel 100% ready for these) be, however, I've got some extra money now (thanks for a good ole' return to the jewelry shop!) so if I fail, I fail and will retake it.

I personally haven't been taking this test as seriously as I should. I've failed AUD twice and REG once. I think I needed this to “wake up.” I graduated college almost 2 years ago and was a pretty good student. Yet here I am, not studying like I should nor passing these exams. Like I said earlier, if I fail BEC Sunday, I'll just retake it. I've scheduled FAR January 5th, AUD first weekend of Feb. I'm going to refocus on my career now. I have a new purpose and goal to get these stupid exams over with. I'll use this break up to motivate me.

    Thanks everyone for the support!
