FAR-AUD Material Overlap?

Hey Guys! I’m seeing a lot of people and study materials recommend taking AUD right after FAR because some of the material from FAR shows up on AUD. For those who have taken them, is the overlap significant enough to really make a difference?

My mentality is typically (and has been for this until I overthought it today) to get the big things out of the way first and work my way down. As a result, I just passed FAR and was planning on taking REG in this window (late August) and then taking BEC and AUD is the windows after than until I finish. If I take REG next, will it put me at a disadvantage for AUD because of the time lapse between FAR and AUD?

    And the great adventure begins...

    FAR- 82 (5/2013)
    REG- 83 (8/2013)
    BEC- TBD
    AUD- 85 (11/2013)

I took AUD a few weeks ago and am in the middle of studying for FAR right now. I've went through all of FAR's notes (Becker) and I don't see any significance. I've seen a lot of people mention it, but outside the ratio analysis and a few JEs, there isn't much similarity.

Yes, there is some overlap. Taking FAR beforehand is helpful. Mainly I saw overlap in topic areas that covered when/how to test for certain overstatements/understatements, etc.

FAR addresses posting mistakes with cut off dates related to A/R, A/P, whether a liability is short-term vs long-term etc. Audit addresses these same issues, but applies them to testing for misstatements.

And yes, knowing the JE's for certain transactions helps. Again, audit seems to address correcting over/understatements and cutoff issues.

The other thing is that if you have the review material, it will cover each part sufficiently on it's own without the whole overlap part. The way the review materials are written, you can sit for each part in any order. All of the relevant information is covered in each part of the material.
