FAR and REG in same window?

I need some advice. I am planning to retake FAR April 21st (or 28th if I absolutely need to reschedule). I have vacation planned from April 30th – May 5th. Should I try to study for REG right after FAR, including during vacation, in order to sit for it at the end of May? Or should I just take my time and start studying for it after my vacation and schedule REG for the beginning of July? The cons I see with that is losing yet another full summer studying and potentially a really long score release wait time. Obviously I am assuming I will pass my FAR retake. What do you guys think?

I am so sick of paying for these exams. I just checked out my NASBA application history and I have paid for 12 exams in total since 2009 (including some I never even showed up to). I am so tired of this and just want to be done.

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

Amay, I just tried this and fell short with FAR and I had 7-8 weeks…I think you should take REG beg of July and ace it…you have to really master the tax topics and SIMs which will be tough to do in 4 weeks…also, you will be able to enjoy your vacation with light studying if you want…

    Florida:
AUD: 73, 81! Thank you Lord!
BEC: 73, 77! Thank you Lord! and WTB
REG: 71, 82! Thank you Lord! and A71
FAR: 72, 78! Thank you God and my Mommy in Heaven!

Thanks Teetee! My instinct was to give myself enough time for REG and take it in July, especially since I have never studied for it, but I was wondering if I should be taking full advantage of the window and sit for both. It does sound like a bad idea the more I think about it. How are you planning to study for your FAR retake and when are you scheduling it? I took today to spend some time with the hubby. Probably won't start seriously studying until Monday.

Yes, 4 weeks for REG is definitely too short, especially if you have a busy lifestyle. I'm planning for the 12th or 19th for FAR depending on my work schedule. I'm basically going to be in WTB every chance I get…I will review my notes first as a review but mostly MCQs and writing notes non stop.

My advice from someone who was on this journey for a long time. Take FAR on April 28th (or whatever date works) and give it everything you have. Then..go on your vacation and leave your books at home. Re-connect with your husband and give yourself a mental break. You can make the decision about REG after your vacation. Good luck on FAR and REG.

Take REG in July. I don't think 4 weeks is enough time for that much new material, especially coming off of several months of studying for FAR. Better to give yourself the time to be ready than to rush it and have a bigger risk of failing and having to retake it. Besides, if you take it at the beginning of July you'll still have July and August to enjoy your summer.

Thank you ladies! I really appreciate your advice. I just love the support I can find here. I'm going to focus on this exam and worry about REG later. See you guys on the Q2 thread! @Baxter thanks for taking the time to write to me. You are an amazing inspiration to a lot of us here. Feel almost like a celebrity is writing to me 😉

I took them on the same day! I wouldn't recommend that at all. I got an 84 on REG and a freaking 73 on FAR!

@Kricket that's pretty impressive for attempting that! I would never be brave enough to do that. My husband tells me I have a hard time walking and chewing gum at the same time, so yeah…no.
