Failed Reg; First time taking any section. What now? - Page 2

    Hey,

So I just got my failing score for Reg, I’ve never taken a section before. I’m disappointed obviously, just trying to figure out where to go from here.

What are my next steps from here? I’ve read about the “ancillary material” in the forums, but I can’t seem to find the material (unless of course it’s in front of my face and I’m being silly).

I’m feeling pretty down now, I know other people have passed a couple of sections on their first try and I couldn’t even pass one 🙁

Any advice and help would be great on what to do now.

@accountabergs I've hopped around with taking different sections. I took REG as my first exam during the first part of the window and failed and took BEC in the second part of the window and passed. This time around, I retook REG in January and didn't pass and I took Audit in February (score comes out tomorrow). I'm retaking REG in April, but it'll take less time because I understand most of the basics and the foundation and just need to work on areas I'm weak in (simulations).

Yeah, everyone has a different strategy. I guess that was my other thing too, I've only studied for one section and didn't pass…I was thinking about starting the process to study for BEC and also studying the REG topics that I definitely know I had the most trouble on, that way I have a better understanding of those. Once I feel I've mastered the topics that have given me the most trouble I can move onto reviewing/studying the other topics for REG.

Hopefully that strategy will allow me to take both sections in April (around different times of course).

This is all helpful advice from everyone! I feel a little better about it today.

How are the Becker live classes? I've been doing self-study. And where is this “Ancillary material” I keep hearing about?

The Becker classes are helpful, no doubt. The classes give you a good foundation for the material and there is plenty of homework questions and simulations for practice as well. Looks like my plan is to continue BEC and AUD classes, take BEC beginning of April, and AUD 2 weeks after.

    Passed in 2014

    FAR- (5/27) 88
    REG- (2/20) 70, Rematch: (7/2)83
    BEC- (4/2) 85
    AUD- (4/24) 87

Using Becker live classes and online materials
