@iwillpasscpa, the fact that you got 72 proved that you probably studied well and as you said you did not try to memorize but understand the concepts. Now that i am done, i will try to help others as much as i can.
A very close to passing mark may be due to the following:
1. Time management: I know 4 years ago i failed REG twice because of time management. If you don't know a question make an educated guess and move on. Don't spend more than 3 minutes on one question and don't review the answered questions and mark as few as possible, when you want to review marked questions. I used to do a quick review of all questions on the exam and after the 1st testlet i realized the time was running fast. So after that i never reviewed the answered questions in a testlet.
2. Try to understand what the examiner are asking for. After this exam, i think you will be more familiar with the language and the way they phrase the questions. To be honest, i would not supplement Audit with any other materials. Audit is usually the easiest and to be fair to Becker, they do a really good job with Audit. You were so closed, so no point in wasting time with other materials. Reread the areas that are your weak and redo marked questions and mark not necessarily only hard questions but mark questions that tend to cover more than one thing. This is a good way to review.
3. What saved me on audit is this. I got two simulations where i knew nothing about. The first time i took audit i blanked and left two sims without answering but passed with a 75, but it expired so i had to retake it again. The same thing happened where i had two sims for concepts i have never heard about, but guess what this time i did not blank and i used the research tab. They were very specific concepts with very unusual specific words, so i typed in those words and use the “contain only” “within GASS” on the research section. And guess what a table with 3 columns was the exact replica of the SIMS and all the answers were right there. I now realize that the examiners know that we can't know everything, but like in real life, when we don't, we will have to research that. Just become more than familiar how to use the research tool in an effective way so you don't get dozens of articles and know how to narrow down the queries.
Hope this help. As the material is still fresh, i will also suggest you don't wait too long to resit.
