Failed Audit…take FAR?

I passed BEC & REG, but just took Audit in late May and got a damn 73.

I got “Stronger” in the MC, and “Weaker” in the Sims. I had 3 Sims that seemed like they should have been in FAR, and I know I bombed those.

My question is, do you guys think it would be beneficial to just go straight for FAR now and take Audit last? I have until mid-November until my first score (BEC) expires.

    Thanks!

I think retaking AUD again at the first on July would be better since you already have so much of that knowledge and you don't want to lose it by putting FAR in the middle. The trick on AUD SIMS is to use the AL for every question, not just the research one. You can find answers word for word in the AL if you use the search feature and also search within. If you take it at the beginning on July then you could have two months to study FAR at the end of August, giving you Q4 to retake either one if needed after Q3. If you move onto FAR you will have to take it in late July or August to have adequate study time and that leaves you with having to retake AUD and possibly FAR as well.

CPA Exam - Finally DONE (November 2014)
    BEC (08/10/13) 80
    AUD (08/24/13) 65 (11/13/13) 85
    FAR (04/12/14) 81
    REG (07/19/14) 69 (11/29/14) 87!!

I think what I would do in your position is figure out a schedule where you can keep alternating between the two you have left, taking both of them each window. So you would need to take one of them in early July and the other one in late August.

You're really close on AUD, so you could take that one super early in July so you have enough time to study for FAR for late August, but also work on some of the FAR basic journal entries and ratios so that you'll have them for AUD.

I'm not sure if you have quite enough time to study for FAR and take it in early July, and then do your AUD retake in August. But it *could* work– how much time do you have each week for studying?

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

Thanks for the input guys. I work full-time at a private investment firm and have about half of my weekends in the next 2-3 months committed for weddings and such.

I think I'll review basic FAR adjusting entries and take Audit sometime near the end of July. My current NTS for FAR expires on 10/2/14, so I scheduled FAR for that date – even if I fail I'll have more than a month to retake it.

Any more input would be welcome, but thanks again for the help above!

Unless it's your own wedding and such you're talking 6 -8 hours, not the entire weekend shot. I completely understand time conflicts but make some sacrifices and get this behind you. There's never going to be a good time to do this so don't jeopardize credit you've already earned.

If you fail FAR on Oct 2 you can't retake it until Q1 2015.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Yep. You can only take each section once in a testing window so if you wait until October you won't be able to take it again before your first score expires. Looking at FAR adjusting entries is good for AUD too.

Oh shit I had no idea about the only taking each exam once per window. My new plan is to take Audit on or around July 12th, and will move FAR to the end of August so I still have the last window to retake if necessary.

I passed BEC and REG with about 3 weeks of studying each (most on the weekends)…do you guys think it's feasible to pass FAR with 4-5 weeks?

I really appreciate all of the responses and help…you guys are lifesavers.

In my humble opinion, you should try to take AUD as close to July 1 as you can. The material will be fresher, plus FAR is going to take a while to master. Some people can do it in a few weeks, but I'd venture a guess that they are in the minority.

Agreed. If you could study full time, I'd say FAR in 4-5 weeks is reasonable, but with a full time job, that's going to be pretty crazy, if you want the best chance of passing.

6-8 weeks for FAR is more like it when you work full time. There is a LOT of material, and it's all fair game.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)

    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

    @blink4288

4-5 weeks? thats tough… if you dont work and study every day 8 hours (including weekends) then you have a chance… my experience was that I studied for 2 months (working full time) and passed the first time… Good luck!

My Journey was 1 year and 2 months

    FAR: PASSED

    AUD: PASSED

    REG: PASSED

    BEC: PASSED- took 05-29-14 :o)

Good stuff guys. I rescheduled FAR for August 29th, and will probably take Audit in early July….I still have to wait about two weeks for the California Board of Accountancy to approve my re-application so I can get my NTS, but will start reviewing Audit ASAP.

The latest I will take Audit is July 14th, so in that case I'll have 6 weeks to prepare for FAR. I work about 40 hours a week, but can usually fit in 30 hours per week of studying (most on the weekends).
