Regarding your family member – there are many people in this world who have no concept of wanting to set goals for themselves, and then be willing to make sacrifices in order to accomplish them. Many people just want to get through life putting forth as little energy as possible. So, they will never “get” what you're doing or why you're doing it.
Try letting that person know that it's a very stressful process for you, but it's important and just something that you “have to do.” Say – I hope that you can support me in this – or something like that.
Maybe they just miss you and want to spend time with you? If so, let them know that you can't wait to spend time with them when this is over. Start making a list of all the things you'll do together after you pass. Tell them every time you add something to the list.
Other than that, just don't take it personally, be proud of yourself for your commitment and dedication, stay in touch with people who really ARE supportive. Even if you can't spend time with them, keep in touch by email just to ask for some support every now and then.
You're doing this for your own reasons, so stay focused on that and don't give up!!!
Hope your back is better!!!
