Exiting Testlets (or Leaving Sims Blank) by Mistake

It’s so frustrating to hear stuff like this. Of all the variables to take into consideration (eg. random sims, computer freezes, fire drill, etc), this is one of the few areas where you are in control, and it physically hurts me to hear stuff like this. All that time studying and costs incurred – waste.

I keep hearing about people exiting by mistake, skipping a testlet, leaving sims blank, etc. It’s just hard for me to picture this happening. My coworker recently skipped the BEC essay portion completely and I had warned her after reading a thread about that. I know people can click on the “Exit” button by mistake, but then the pop-up appears where they ask you again “Are you sure?” and if I’m not mistaken, I think they ask you if you want to “Review” before continuing. I don’t mean to insult/offend anyone that this has happened to, but I’m curious though. How does this happen? What goes through your mind as this is happening?

    BEC - 67, 79 - (expires 5/24)
    REG - 74, 72, 77 - Key to Passing: RTFQ
FAR - 77 - Chance favors the prepared mind.
    AUD - 64, (5/14) - FREEDOM!! (i hope)

I did something like this in audit. I didn't forget to finish anything. I had been working on the one last sim that I couldn't figure out. I hit exit instead of the other button. I was so tired I just clicked through the menu without reading the warnings. Afterwards I realized what I had done. The test proctor said my test was complete and all my scores were accepted. She didn't say that I didn't answer anything. But my audit score was my lowest so I have to think somehow exiting improperly reduced my score.
