Maybe someone here can help me make a decision or has experience with this because I’m feeling indecisive about how to plan for my last two tests.

I have BEC and AUD put away with BEC expiring in April. I just took REG for the third time on October 17th and failed that sucker again getting my lowest score yet(62 down from a 73). I do well on the MCQs but somehow just doesn’t translate to the test. Basically I feel burnt out on REG and now can’t take it until January. Should I move on to FAR and study for for these two months and take it in January and then move back to REG or just take a month off and hit up REG studying hard in December? Studying REG for another two months might make me clinically insane.

I would move on to FAR and take in January. Sounds like you really need a break from REG. Very understandable. Maybe you will have a new perspective once you come back to it.

    Good luck!!

The same thing happened to me. Reg was my achilies heal and i got a 73. I thought i could just bang it out the next time but i was so over looking at the same questions and had trouble focusing on my weaker areas and ended up doing worse the next time. I took a break did another exam and then went back to REG and its good because the stuff you really learned stuck aroudn with me but it was fresh enough where i could review everything and i finally passed.

    REG - 63,74,70,81!!!
    FAR - 44,73, 81!!!!
    AUD - 51,81!
    BEC - 73,77!!

3 years later and I'm officially done. Never give up no matter what!

I've never had to retake that many times in a row, but I would say over not studying for a month or moving on to another subject, if you're close to losing something I would move on to another subject to give my brain a break and yet keeping pushing forward! I guess it also depends on how long you've been studying and if family time around the holidays will bolster you enough to be able to crank FAR & REG out before April… honestly at this point I don't think I would take my chances, especially if you work OT during tax season. Believe me, studying during tax season does NOT work. (although studying for a month after tax season, just keeping tax season hours work for me for FAR… ya although I'm still not sure how I passed lol)

    "Don't worry, beeeeee happy!"

Unhappy with job, long distance boyfriend, not much studying:
    FAR- 66 [08/28/12] AUD- 61 [10/04/12] REG- 59 [11/28/12] BEC- 63 [01/11/13]
Year off (from exams): Got new job, got married, moved, etc
    ✓ AUD- 79!!! 01/10/14 FIRST PASS!! WOOOO!!!
    ✓ REG- 73 02/27/14, 81 10/27/14
    ✓ FAR- 83 5/16/14
    ✓ BEC- 80 7/24/14

These replies are definitely swaying me to just move on to FAR and put REG behind me for the moment. Michael, you make interesting point about overlooking questions.

RachelP: Luckily I don't have a tax season in my industry (I work in a small niche) but my confidence has been shook after passing AUD and BEC on the first try. Thought REG would be a breeze and now I feel like the Broncos getting blasted by the Seahawks in the Superbowl, except three times.

I am a huge Broncos fan, so I ran relate to the feeling. That game was so depressing. I stopped watching after the 2nd quarter. Too painful to watch. Kind of like their loss to the Patriots last Sunday. Ugh.
