I am getting ready to order my course since they are on sale now. Which do you think is easier, DVD or USB? I am leaning toward DVD so I can easily play them on my DVD player and computer.

    Here we go......?

I am thinking DVD. You might have a DVD player you can use and watch the DVD's. You could watch them on your TV or most (laptop) computers have DVD drives. Just make sure your computer has a DVD drive if you take this option. If you make a mistake, you can buy an external DVD drive for about $75 that will USB plug into your computer.

And like Herbieherb said, those USB drives might be easy to loose. Also, Yaeger will charge you for a new USB drive is something happens to yours. Or if you delete a file on your USB drive, you are hosed.

I was also thinking about this and am leaning toward DVD. I have no idea about copyright laws and all that but i was reading up on how you can rip the DVD and put it on your smart phone. I know it would be tough to view the lecture on a 3.7″ screen (in my case) but heck talk about ultra portability. Think not having to lug your laptop around and you only need to bring your Wiley book.

Is this against the law and I shouldn't even be thinking about it. I would think that since this would be licensed to you that you can do what you want with it as long as it is only you that uses it.

    Thoughts?

Either way I would still opt for the DVD.

I went with the USB so I could carry it in my briefcase and study anywhere (work, home, hotel.)

Once a DVD gets scratched…it's done.

    Just my two cents!

I went with USB, since its light and for me its more reliable. With two kids you never know what will happen to your study material.

Just curious, will Yaeger sell you both the DVD and USB for an additional cost? If so, what would the cost be? I am leaning toward DVD, but my main concern is getting a DVD scratched and ruining an important lecture video. Sometimes DVDs can get scratches no matter how careful you are. Does anybody know if the videos on the USB are protected from being copied onto other media, like a hard drive, or burned to a DVD?

LaBarge – I just received my 2011 DVD Homestudy. On their memo it says do not copy files on usb drive as they are copy protected. But like I said I have the DVD so not sure if you are still able to copy or not.

The USB memo thing is more to deter people from messing with the files because they get corrupted and un-playable if people don't do it right, causing them to have to send the USB back in for a re-load.

I have used both and the USB is a lot faster, especially if you want to repeat sections of a lecture.

Anybody who bought the 2011 courses in USB notice any drop in sound & video quality?

I bought one course in DVD last year and the rest in USB and the ones in USB are poor quality compared to the DVDs.

Was just wondering if anyone else noticed this?

I go for DVDs. And the dvd driver is not so expensive. I just purchased one by less than $30 from amazon.com. At least I will feel some achievements when I finished watching one dvd.

USB, small, easy to jump into subjects one after the other, I dont need to change disks.

I meant the Gigabyte capacity of the USB drive. I'm wondering if Yaeger has to compress the Videos to fit on the USB flash drive. Which would be consistent with loss of audio/video quality if compressed.
