My boyfriend/fiancée of 5 years dumped me yesterday and my test is on the 7th. I am having a hell of a time focusing and my mind just keeps wondering. Sleeping and eating are a battle. The last thing I want to do right now is study and I just want to zone out, get stoned, and watch tv. My emotions and my level of stress have never been this overwhelming.

People have emotional breakdowns around the CPA exam, whether content related, bureaucracy-related, or personal life related. So her original post makes perfect sense to me, and is completely related to testing for the CPA.

Any kind of personal attacks in a support group are unwarranted (in my opinion).

The emphasis being on personal support rather than philosophy of relationships. Not to say that you cannot start a new thread on philosophy, including freedom of speech, but that has little to do with the emotional support some people need to get through the CPA exam.

I've been reading this forum for almost 1 year and can attest to its benefits in that regard. And the ladies here (such as mla and CPA-mommy) are worth their weight in gold.

Not many people saw his remarks because it was very late at night and they were deleted before most people checked the forum. They were mostly directed at me and honestly, I don't even remember them, but I remember thinking it was inappropriate and I was shocked by the seemingly personal attack. Everyone still has freedom of speech, but with that freedom comes a responsibility to fellow posters. You don't know anyone on this forum and verbally attacking anyone simply because no one knows who you are makes the words unworthy of being read IMO.

@CPAMommyof3 – I agree with you that they were out of bounds and pretty personally attacking. Your advice was and remains 100% spot on, and anything the moderators edited out was appropriate to have done with.

I don't give a crap if someone mocks me, but being that utterly unsupportive of someone coming here seeking help, solace, and advice is uncalled for.

I'm not sure why freedom of speech is so hard for so many people to get their heads around. Freedom of speech is only from limitation by the government. The government can't legally tell you your opinions don't belong on the internet. That's it.

Jeff, a private citizen, runs this website. If he decides you can come here and post on a message board, that's his choice to allow you to do that. If you write something he doesn't like on HIS website, he gets to take it down and tell you to leave if that's what he wants. There's also nothing stopping him from deleting every single post on here and dedicating the site solely to videos of raccoons going forward.

You might not like it when a moderator deletes posts, but there is certainly nothing about it that violates anyone's freedom of speech. Not even a little bit.
