Dumped 4 days before my AUD exam - Page 3

My boyfriend/fiancée of 5 years dumped me yesterday and my test is on the 7th. I am having a hell of a time focusing and my mind just keeps wondering. Sleeping and eating are a battle. The last thing I want to do right now is study and I just want to zone out, get stoned, and watch tv. My emotions and my level of stress have never been this overwhelming.

Sucks with the breakup, but would you rather have a relationship end AND give up on the CPA, or just the relationship?

The timing stinks, but I'm guessing things weren't pleasant for the past few weeks/months with your relationship, so it's probably better (at least for now) that you two have some space.

Sorry you have to deal with it now, but remember that the painful truth is better than the sweetest lie.

    Good luck!

Smoking lowers your is by 10-20 points. Proven fact.

Good to know though that a lot of stoners work in the field. Going to be easier for me to become your boss.

Don't wish such things on others that you would not wish you on yourself.

Everyone stop this negativity we don't need it here. Merci 🙂

I definitely understand where you are coming from. I myself have had stressful situation at a former job that made it very difficult to concentrate on exams nor sleep. I just wanted to keep myself distracted by constant stimulation, hanging out with others, watching tv, spending money at bars.

The plus side is you already probably got all your studying done, so just try to concentrate for the length of the exam and get out of there.

If you really need to I think you can change exam date 24 hours before but will be hit with a big penalty charge.

Anyway = OP I hope you are feeling better today, some of the folks have given you good suggestions.

If you can push back your exam do it. It will give you some time to pull yourself together and get back at focusing on your exam.

Please don't resort to smoking or drinking. It has never been the answer to healing your wounds. In fact you will heal faster if you face the problem head on and let yourself grieve. It will hurt.

There have been many others that had their b'frds/ spouse leave them just before they took the CPA exam. Those folks are all done with their CPA exam and moved on to better things in life.

Things happen for a reason, as humans we need to recognize the lesson and grow to be a better person than we were before.

Did a moderator edit Steven's posts or did he realize what a jerk he sounded like and do it himself?

Howww you doin’ ? *Joey voice

But in all seriousness keep your head up. I know its easier said then done but you must stay focused on your future goals and pass those exams. Time seriously does heal all. I know how tough breakups can be and there’s never a good time.

You have 3 exams left and before you know it you’ll be finish. Would you want to be married with somebody who is so inconsiderate ? You now know what kind of person he really is. I am sorry, stay strong..

    ps I’m single 😉

@skynet–I think you just lost the possibility of a relationship with the OP. I know I would be upset if I was proposed to by the wrong name. 😉

Put the exam at the front of your mind. Flood your time with exam prep. That'll get the guy out of your mind temporarily. Then once the exam is over, stay active. You must stay active. Surround yourself with friends and good people. Maybe try and rekindle your relationship with your older sister, Elsa.

    It's finally freaking over.
