Dumped 4 days before my AUD exam - Page 2

My boyfriend/fiancée of 5 years dumped me yesterday and my test is on the 7th. I am having a hell of a time focusing and my mind just keeps wondering. Sleeping and eating are a battle. The last thing I want to do right now is study and I just want to zone out, get stoned, and watch tv. My emotions and my level of stress have never been this overwhelming.

How do you have any idea whatsoever what CPAMommyof3's background is in? Any concept of what her real-world experience is counseling (consoling?) those who are going through a hard time?

…and in what post did she bring her religion in to the matter? I don't see a “faith based system of thought” being thrown around anywhere. Just people offering sympathy to OP and encouraging her to not let the breakup get her down to the point where she can't study.

    FAR - 79 (11/27/13)
    AUD - 76 (2/1/14)
    REG - 77 (5/30/14)
    BEC - 88 (7/18/14)

    MN Ethics - 100% (3/9/14)

    AND DONE! 8/1/14

I understand “tough love” as much as the next person and agree that there are times when that approach is beneficial, but terms like stupidity and grotesque are not necessary to get your point across. She didn't ask for advice on smoking. She was talking about her breakup and how it may affect her performance on the CPA exam. And I'm sure there is not a single person on this thread that doesn't forget there are bigger problems in the world when we talk about being worried about not passing one of these tests, or dealing with a breakup while testing, or any other thing we may post about on this forum, but we still post about them looking for support, sympathy, reassurance, etc from people that may understand what we are going through when others don't. You may have had very good intentions with your post but it reads very poorly across an anonymous forum.

If you have to “EDIT” out your posts, you should not make them to begin with.

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

Zoning out and smoking won't help pick you back up and truthfully the more you focus on your loss, the worse you'll end up feeling. The one upside to getting divorced with 2 kids involved was my kids kept me moving forward every second of every day. I agree with forcing yourself to get up, shower, study. You're going to be dealing with a great loss either way so choose the path that isn't self-sabotaging.

Personally, I think he was probably threatened by you, given that 94 on FAR. I know it's tough, but you can do it. One day you will look back on that relationship with a clear head, remember all of the subtle clues, and know that it wasn't right for you. But that is for another day…

Today, get mad! Go pass AUD and get your life back. Then you can focus on finding the “right guy”.

And for the record, I know that saying “get stoned” may not mean what everyone is assuming it means. I have friends that use the term “stoned” when they really mean “drunk”. No judgments from me on that one either way. Good luck.

If you are in his area, I think Skynet would be a great person to help you forget about “him”. But I'm a sucker for a guy who can make me laugh and Skynet is very good at that!

“Oh and stop smoking. Seems like you got a high score which may allude to how bright you are. The last thing you want to do is cause permanent brain damage by smoking – yes it does cause permanent brain damage according to the most recent studies.

Aslo, you will eventually become very dumb if you continue or do smoke. I promise you it will happen. It's only inevitable. You may be ultra intelligent at the moment which will prolong the approaching stupidity caused by such a grotesque habit, but rest assured, gravity is a law” – Is this poster serious? You become very dumb if you continue to smoke? Lmao. So misleading .

@Anna good luck on AUD. Pretty sure smoking won't make you dumb.

Smoke all you want!! I'm really sorry about your relationship. It's going to be hard for a while, but I promise it'll get better in time. My sister got dumped one month before her wedding after a 7 or 8 year relationship. It took her a few months, but she got better and so will you!
