My company does not pay anything…not even tuition…and they're a university…but again all you need to work here is a HS Diploma…at least that's what it takes to do this monstrous job..

I work in the accounting dept of a large company. They pay for the Becker review course and exam fees for sections I pass. They will not pay for Wiley books, flashcards, testbanks, etc…

That sounds like a pretty good deal. Do they require you to sign an agreement to stay a certain period with the company if the costs are reimbursed?

My company pais for all of my exam fees and study materials. I have the choice of study materials and there is no $ limit as to these expenses. The caveat is that I have to stay with the company for 2 years after becoming certified but I'm not tied to the company. If I quit before that, I just have to pay them back for these expenses on a pro rata basis.

I completely lucked out here since I got approved for the exam reimbursement just before the owners updated the policy and the CPA is no longer an “approved” certification for my dept.

    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

I pay out of pocket for EVERYTHING. Most people here are lucky because they work at a CPA firm that pays for all of this, but since the economy went to hell, CPA firms stopped hiring recent graduates, so I was out of luck.

I work for the state and they do not pay any of my exam costs or fees. So I come out of pocket for everything. But to be fair, I had already started the process before I was even hired here.

One great perk, even though we dont get reimbursed, is that I am allowed 24 hours of vacation (3 work days) per calendar year for what they call “Study Hall” to study for the exam. I also get a guaranteed raise once I pass all four parts. And because CPE is a requirement of my job, they pay for CPE that I can (and will) also use towards my CPE requirements for the CPA.

I've only worked here a month and already have 11 hours of CPE! That is a major plus because we all know how expensive CPE is….

Although I do still have a spot of jealousy for my friends who went to work at accounting firms that pay for $3000 Becker courses…

I work for a midsize company and they don't pay for any CPA related expenses or tuition…eventhough it would be a tax deduction for them.. It is really a burden on me financially. Atleast I am getting my yr experience but when im all done..I will be hitting the market hard..believe me!

I work in the Finance department of a rather large company. They cover all of the exam fees up front. If I were to fail a section, I believe they will reimburse the cost of one re-take (per section). My study materials are also covered; although it was capped at $1,600 (CPAexcel seemed like the best value for me). The Ninja Notes and Wiley bank are on my own dime(s).

I feel fortunate. I did, however, foot the bill for the CFE study materials and exam.

After I pass, I get reimbursed up to $1,500. Along with this my company will pay for the ethics exam and my application fees to get my license.

    REG - Passed
    BEC - Passed
    FAR - Passed
    AUD - Passed

My job will reimburse me the testing fees once I pass a section. They will only pay once. I passed FAR and BEC on the first try so I was glad to get that $422 back LOL

Study material is negotiable. I have paid about $1,500 out of pocket for all 4 parts, but my CFO said he will help me out with some of that cost once I am done with the exams. I am not sure what I'll get but something is better than nothing. I did hear $1,000 thrown out there, but I may talk him into covering it all. I have to catch him on a good day 🙂

I'm hoping to pass REG and AUD on the first try so I can get that $422 back too!

In my situation, if you leave within 6 months of receiving reimbursement, they deduct it from your past paycheck. They also pay for any colleges classes (tuition & books) up to $5,250 per year, as long as it is related to your job.

My employer paid for all of my exam takes (that's 9 attempts!). They also reimbursed me for two parts of my study material (CPAexcel). I paid for the ninja notes, the Wiley books and the Wiley test bank. I also paid the $50 gas cost every time I took an exam. My employer gave me the day off for free though, for every exam. That was pretty nice. My boss usually let me go early the day before too.
