    I had no idea the CPA used noteboards & markers otherwise I would have been using the ones I already have for the GMAT.

    https://www.amazon.com/Manhattan-GMAT-Simulation-Booklet-Marker/dp/0979017580/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378873414&sr=8-1&keywords=manhattan+gmat+board

    I don’t think anyone has suggested it before but the GMAT uses very similar noteboards and markers (minus 8 pages). Yellow dry board with grid lines. If anyone wants to use one to practice with, you can order them from amazon. Almost everyone on GMatclub.com uses them. They are somewhat a necessity to all of us. I have two of them myself. The yellow noteboard is almost identical minus 8 pages and cut out half the size, the marker is the EXACT same but I think getting a feel for the marker and board might ease some test-day stress.

    Here are some benefits from the gmatclub.com founder.

    “consider these arguments:

    1. This booklet and pen are exact replicas of what is used at the test center, and the more you can be comfortable with that environment, the better. [Minus 8 pages and its somewhat similar to the CPA]

    2. You are probably not used to writing notes and solving questions on a spiral-bound dry-erase board with a dry-erase marker pen. Having used this pen and board for a test can help you avoid some discomforts and set expectations properly

    !!!IMPORTANT!!!

    Regardless of whether you buy this set of not, remember 2 things:

    1. Test the pens at the test center – many report that they get dry pens that do not write, and then end up exchanging them mid-test while the clock is ticking

    2. Close the cap of the pen if you don’t plan to write for a little while (they will dry out if you leave them opened for too long, otherwise, they last a good while)”

    what do u guys think?

    To followup now that I am on a regular keyboard….I bought it so that I would understand the feel of the boards prior to the test. Those wet erase markers dry out fairly quickly if you are not careful but if you keep writing with it, they will start writing again.

    The first few times going through BEC chapter 2 homework of Becker, I was going through about 6 pages of paper. On exam day, I filled up both sides and had to get them replaced. Anythng to replicate exam conditions helps. Although, I am not ready to run down to goodwill and get a 17″ monitor.

    Aud - Passed 86 May 2013 - Becker
    BEC - Passed 88 Aug 2013 - Becker
    FAR - Passed 88 Nov 2013 - Becker

    yes i definitely think it helps, it makes you learn to close the cap whenever you're not using it to conserve its life, and also helps you save space

    Also Edit:

    If you want extra markers

    https://www.artstuff.net/Staedtler-Lumocolor-Non-Permanent-Markers.html

    you want the black SUPERFINE ones (shipping is a flat-rate 5 dollar fee, so i suggest ordering like ~6 markers or so because they’re only 1.67 each)

    good luck!

    @Lilla my sister gets mad at me for taking her daughter's doodle board because sometimes the toddler wants to draw and learn how to write (she's 1.5 years old), but I use it for my calculations which was 100% effective especially for BEC!

    REG = 58 (02-20-13), 75 (05-01-13)
    AUD = 67 (05-29-13), 79 (08-29-13)
    BEC = 83 (07-31-13)
    FAR = 72 (10-29-13), 69 (02-27-14), 73 (04-16-14), 81(08-13-14)

    Study Materials = Becker 2013 + Wiley Online Test Bank
    (75%) On my Way to a CPA (minus the experience requirement)!
