I am really struggling with this today as I know my husband and all my friends are out doing something fun this wonderful sunny day and I am sitting alone in silence working MCQ’s. I know this is only temporary and in the end it will totally be worth it but man today is a struggle.

It's hard no doubt. I question why I'm doing this all the time.

Haha. I had the opposite issue while studying. With a wife and two children under 3, it was a RARE occurrence when I would actually have the house to myself to study. You should be looking at this quiet time as a perfect opportunity to buckle down and put in quality study hours.

welcome back mini! I do know I am very fortunate to have a quiet space to study and my husband gives me all the time I need which is great, I will try to focus on that part of this and stop the whoa is me thoughts.

All the months(years for some) you have invested will pay off in the end. As Rome was not built in a day, neither will your successful career. One day, we'll be able to laugh about this exam. Just you wait. Besides, you're in good company here at another71 🙂

Protip: If you haven't already, try limiting the time spent browsing social networking. Nothing kills the study mood more than to see friends swimming with dolphins while sipping Mai Tais.

It's true. Some days it's harder to deal with the isolation than others. Just keep in mind that it's just one of the bad days (you knew when you started you would have them), and don't take the feeling too seriously. I like to go out for a run to then come back to studying. When the bad mood passes, it's easier to concentrate.

I also totally agree with MIA. Browsing FB and seeing my friends out partying and traveling is super depressing. Looking back, I probably should have kept that to a minimum. I was really torturing myself for no reason! Better just to concentrate on the task at hand and know you can enjoy your family/friends later.

    Good luck!

I actually met some REALLY cool people on this board that are now my facebook buddies. One of us will usually start a “status” checking in on the rest and we can all take brief breaks to chat about how miserable we are, or if we are being productive, help someone understand a question. 🙂 I also met some really nice people through the CMA linked up page. So I would say that taking all these bloody tests has been a pretty good experience for me.

Actually, I have never felt like I have had so many friends and opportunities for fun in my life. LOL, funny what you take for granted when your life doesn't consist of work, work, work and study, study, study…

The hardest part for me is that none of my friends really get it. They know that I am studying, but don't really know what it means to be a CPA, and that this will be a huge career move for me and it isn't like college where I can have a “study break” and meet them at the bar on a Sunday afternoon. Nobody is really interested in what it is about and I don't blame them.

turn it around. use the loneliness as motivation to pass and be done. it's a great feeling.
