Discount Codes for Review packages? Best review for someone in a hurry?

I’m new to this board and it seems like this is the place to go for input on test issues/reviews, etc.

    So here goes:

I am going to be taking all 4 sections in one testing window and am having a bit of a hard time deciding which review to buy. Now I know the review courses have been discussed a million times already, but I’m curious specifically which ones people have found to be good at helping students get through the program QUICKLY? I am taking FAR first week of July, followed by AUD towards the end of July with BEC and REG in August.

I have already taken the CMA and from what I can tell that should help me out tremendously for the BEC. Also I am a relatively good test taker (ie not anxious, etc). However to really understand things I need to see them done (ie lectures). I used Gleim for my CMA and know that their approach would leave me wanting to kill myself for the CPA tests

I’m sort of stuck between Yaeger and Rogers, but am open to any and all suggestions.

Also are there any ‘secret” discount codes that I should know about?

    Thanks so much!

Do you mind if I ask why you're taking all 4 in one window? The only reason I ask is that to take just 2 in one window is tough, but all 4? head explosion haha

    REG (2/24/12) - 89
    AUD (4/5/12) - 89
    FAR (5/31/12) - 91
    BEC (7/7/12) - 84

Of course not. I was able to scale back on my work schedule temporarily. I only work about 10 hours a week right now (SCORE). I would really like to find another job- I have a great job (in theory) right now, but for a less than great company. I would like to have all my certifications, as well as my MBA done before I start looking for another position. I got incredibly lucky that I was given the opportunity I was, but in order to actually be competitive in for the sort of jobs I want I simply MUST have my CPA completed. I started on my PT schedule mid April and immediately studied for and took the CMA tests. I'm also ridiculously close to finishing my MBA (I'm doing that online).

I cannot afford to stay PT for very long (nor would my current employer allow it), so I'm on a pretty strict time limit.

Also in part because it seems pretty doable (given my schedule), considering that I have all of June to prepare for FAR and feel pretty confident about BEC already. Maybe I'm totally high but I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens. If I fail any (or all- YIKES) parts I will just retake them I guess.

I took all four parts in one testing window (around two months of study time) and passed from my first time using Roger's course (full disclosure: I wasn't employed). Choosing the course will depend on your own studying style. I was able to pass the CMA and CIA exams using Gleim but I seriously doubt that I would have finished my CPA exams that fast by relying on the same studying style. Each person has his own studying style and I don't believe that any course will suit all. My advise: choose the course you are more comfortable with by looking at the video clips on the website.

On a side note CMA is tougher than BEC but you still shouldn't underestimate it. On a another side note, I understand that each person has a different kind of reason for wanting to finish all exams at once. I won't ask you about yours but be sure you have a strong motivation to do so, otherwise you might give up way too early.

    REG: 80 (02/02/2012)
    FAR: 91 (02/06/2012)
    AUD: 89 (02/09/2012)
    BEC: 79 (02/12/2012)

    Ethics: 90 (02/11/2012)

Thanks LongJourney!!! I'm strongly leaning towards Roger right now but am somewhat bitter that I just missed some sale.

I feel the same way about Gleim- I don't know that I would make it through the CPA with their “audio visual presentations” only.

I just need to power through it quickly unless I want to be super poor (and hungry) come the end of the year.

I think that's doable–just be prepared to give up any and all fun things for those 2 months. It's good that FAR is your first one–take as much time as possible to study for that one, because it's a beast. I use Becker, and I have no complaints so far. Good luck!

If you're looking to go through all of it in 1 window, I would suggest Roger (or the course you are most comfortable with), Ninja Notes and Wiley Test Bank.

In my opinion, your goal should be to get through the lectures first while taking intense notes, then move on to as many MCQ as you possibly can (remember it doesn't matter if you get the question right or wrong, what matters is that you know why). I also think you should read the NINJA notes everyday; when I have two weeks before my test, I usually limit my MCQ and re-write the NINJA notes (takes about 5-7 days depending on the section), once finished re-writing I go back to doing MCQ.

    Good luck!

By the way – there is no review package for someone in a hurry.

You have __ amount of material to get through. The only “hurry” variable is you.

Thanks Jeff- you are right of course. I guess I didn't think about it like that.
