Hi everyone, this is my first post on another71.com after reading sparingly for over a year now. I am just at the end of my rope with this exam and am having trouble dealing with this lack of success. I currently work for Big 4 and only have 1 section of the exam passed. I have taken each part twice and while I have seen improvement each time I am still not happy or that close. I am currently using Becker and watch the lecture and do all the MCQ’s as well as the sims and progress quizes to keep everything fresh.

Any help you guys could provide me would be a big big help. I am currently studying for REG which I plan on taking at the beginning of October. My other scores I have posted below. Thanks in advance for the advice.

    BEC – 79 (Exp – 5/11/14)

    FAR – 65, 68

    REG – 42, 61

    AUD – 52, 58

I think Becker is a great prep material. But I think at this point you are simply just memorizing now. I recommend you supplement your studying with other materials like Ninja 10 point combo and Wiley Test Bank. I found WTB to be very helpful. Unlike Becker if you get a question wrong on WTB, it doesn't give you the correct answer immediately, so you can think through it again and pick your next answer, also tells you why the answer is correct. For me that really helped me study. 10 point combo includes audio and notes, listen to the audio on any spare time you have and write out all the notes. Keep pushing and you will succeed.

    Here's my advice:

    1. Add the Wiley test bank – You are probably memorizing answers and not learning concepts if you are going over the same questions every time.

    2. Add the Ninja Notes and Audio – Listen to the audio constantly! You will thank Jeff after your exam.

    3. Stop looking at any exam score below that 79 in BEC! This exam will destroy your confidence and you need that to keep you from second guessing your answers on the exam.

    4. GET MAD! It helps!

Keep moving forward and don't look back. You can't change the past so don't dwell on it.

Thanks for everything so far. I deffinitely agree that I am having trouble with memorizing answers on the Becker material. Does the Wiley stuff really help that much more and will it throw off what Becker has been trying to teach me?

Wiley will help because it is completely new questions. The topics are the same but the questions are different.

Does the Ninja audio also work well with the Becker materials?

I did not use Becker but I have to say NINJA audio saved my butt on REG. I think it works well as a supplement to any study material.

Thanks for the info, I'm just a little hesitant to continue spending all this money on these review materials when I already have to spend another $600 on exam fees currently.

All of Jeff's materials work fine with Becker. They aren't in the same order, but you can definitely pinpoint what you want to listen to/read easily. I play the audio on shuffle in the car even if I haven't touched that chapter in Becker yet. I figure “why not hear what's coming up” and that way I'm not surprised when the topic pops up in Becker.

The notes are great to read when you have a spare moment. I really only look at the notes when I'm reviewing (I TRY to do more, haha). But if you can develop a routine and use the notes/flashcards regularly, it'll only add more value. Wiley is great for my review since I don't want to go over the Becker MCQ's again. A lot of things have popped up on Wiley that I hadn't seen in Becker.

My first exam, REG, I knew I had to hit the books hard because I'm horrible with taxes. When I would just get mentally bogged down and “give up” for the night, my boyfriend would study the flashcards with me while we watched tv. They actually really helped. If you can do that for a half hour each night, it can only help!

I think you need to do something, whether it's revamp your own study routine or add supplements, to increase your scores. I was the same way with the cost. My employer only reimbursed me $1000 for everything. I had the returning discount on Becker, but that was still $1500 and then $1000 total (at least, if I didn't pass them) for the exams. But I knew I needed to buckle down this year and get the exams over with, so I purchased the additional materials.

    Good luck!!

    R - *77*(02/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    A - 71('11); *87*(04/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    F - *76*(08/'13)-Becker & NINJA - "server upgrade" survivor
    B - 60('11); *82*(10/'13) -Becker & NINA

    DONE, DONE, AND DONE.
